Inspiron 1720 Battery reaching end of usable life
My battery meter recently popped up a message saying that my battery was reaching the end of its usable life. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720 and I have only had it for just over a year. My sister got her laptop on the same day and doesn't have the same message. Do I need to buy a new battery or can I still use the old one?

Inappropriate?Adele:
It sounds as if you may be at the end of it's life.
To check the battery charge, press and release the status button on the battery charge gauge to illuminate the charge level lights. Each light represents approximately 20 percent of the total battery charge. For example, if four of the lights are on, the battery has 80 percent of its charge remaining. If no lights appear, the battery has no charge.

Where is the status button and where should I be looking to see the charge level lights? -
Inappropriate?Adele:
It will be on the battery itself. Remove the battery from the system in order to check the gauge.

Inappropriate? The battery that came with my dell laptop lasted exactly 13 months. The second battery I purchased from dell is now not working after just 2 months. It won't charge up. This makes no sense at all.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Take care of your laptop battery and ensure that it will be ready to work properly when you need it most. Some general tips for the inspiron 1720 laptop battery care include: avoid extreme temperatures, don't leave the dell 1720 laptop outside in cold weather or leave it in a hot car. Cold dell 1720 batteries can't create very much power and hot batteries will discharge very quickly. Use electrical power when available to keep battery charged. Don't let your laptop go for long periods of time without using the battery.

Inappropriate? You can change the dell laptop battery yourself easily.
Also, if you hardly ever use your laptop outside your house I strongly recommended you do NOT buy a new dell inspiron 1720 battery, they run up to 200 dollars and you can just take out your old battery, and use power directly from the outlet, this will work fine.
Now if you want to buy a new inspiron 1720 battery, it's probably going to have to be purchased a replacement one,its cheap and long battery life. just go here:
