Is Repairing "Exploded" Display Hinges Worthwhile?

The display hinges on my Inspiron 1526 have "exploded." I don't know how this happened - it wasn't dropped or anything, but there are metal brackets sticking out of these hinges that are so big I don't see how they ever fit in there! Anyway, the question is, can this be repaired inexpensively enough to make it worthwhile?The computer is not quite 1 year old. Would this be under warranty?
