My XPS M1210 Battery died after 10 months. That doesn't seem normal. Any other users with similar experiences? If so, did Dell replace it or not?
I don't do a lot of full recharges, but don't expect that should be a problem.

Inappropriate?I don't have a Dell but it sounds like a faulty battery to me. I would think you could get it replaced. How long is your warranty?
-
Inappropriate?Battery warranty only last for 1 year from invoice date regardless of system warranty length.
-
Inappropriate?Battery warranty is actually usually more 6 months long than 1 year long...

Inappropriate?I have the same issue with my dell xps 1210, and the battery life wasnt great to begin with
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I see a lot of similar topics around battery issues. For example, this one: http://getsatisfaction.com/dell/topic....
It's almost the exact same issue. I wonder if the m1210 has a known battery-life problem. Has anyone else experienced this or have any information about the battery in this machine? Does anyone know how long a battery is expected to last? -
Inappropriate?Me too. Even the reviews for the battery on Dell.Com say the same thing. Hmm, a battery that dies right after the warranty runs out....
They charge ~$150 when replacements can run from $50-$100. Oftentimes, a part from manufacturer is of higher quality. Not here.

Inappropriate?Hi.......I had the same problem with my battery, which I never noticed until I had to use it. Even though It was outside the warranty Dell sent a technician first and then replaced the battery for free. I had to keep repeating that "I would like to speak to your manager" (three or four times with three or four different individuals). Finally I reached someone at the Escalation Department (sic) Integrity department might make for a better image. We set up an appointment for them to call me and they were late so I missed it. One of my co workers said they were a bit huffy that I didn't wait around for them to call. However they finally pulled through. The battery has a one year warranty so if you are within that there should be no problem. If you are outside of the warranty and you think you have a case just be truthful, respectful and persistent.

Inappropriate?I've had the same issue too... my 1-year warranty just ran out (in mid June 2008... don't know what the battery life coverage was) and I've normally had my laptop plugged in at my desk. I even got the big ugly more-expensive 9-cell battery too... because I wanted to be able to play _at_least_ a full-length DVD while traveling! Now, when I finally decide to leave my desk and surf the net in the living room with my friends as I watch TV... I need to run for a power cable almost immediately!
When I unplug the power cord, the battery icon says I have about 3 hrs left.
Within 15 minutes, it says I now have 2 hrs left.
Just 40 min later, the urgent warning comes on: 7% remaining 10 min left.
In about 3 min, the system immediately goes to sleep.
I’m upset

Inappropriate?I too had a batter go south within the first year. I think one issue is that the computer runs so hot it ages the batter significantly. A recommendation of not storing your xps in bag/sleeve until it cools, otherwise it heats the batter pretty good.
-
Inappropriate?DELL should really check if it is battery's problem or somethig else.
Mine (XPS M1210) also died .. and it is quite annoying to know that the price for the new battery is very EXPENSIVE !!!
HELP !!!

Inappropriate?HEY GUYS , got same trouble, 18 months exactly later bought it and I am here to get some reviews on my battery life but I guess is dead too... already a couple of months ago, need to turn the power plug on or only a few minutes running on the inner baterry. I am kinda disappointed 'bout DELL. I was expected to run DELL for a better quality etc. but finally remember me my old VAIO one. Guess I will go to APPLE right Now.
I’m frustated

Inappropriate?Do you use your battery correctly, such as overnight charge for the new, storing it in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects when not use for one months , you can see more xps m1210 battery question and useful battery information in the site: http://www.discount-laptopbattery.com... ,. my dell xps m1210 battery doesn't have the problem, i have used it almost for two years , and i am ready to buy new a replacement one on the site.

Inappropriate?I had the same problem and had Dell replace my battery for free before the 1 year warranty was up. It took a bit of going back and forth with the CSR but finally they gave in.
Generally, this is not specific to Dell and this model. The biggest killer for LION batteries is heat exposure and running the battery flat. Try to keep the battery above 80% charge most of the time. I know that heat killed my battery. -
Inappropriate?Really its not dell. Check this link out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_...
Thats how lithium ion battery work. P the l33tzor is correct heat is the number one killer. Also they go bad after time, the charges matter very little in battery life. RAWRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I’m silly

Inappropriate?HEY, I have an XPS m1210. I stopped using it for about 3-4 months and when I started using it again, the battery holds absolutely no charge. The only way I can use the laptop is if it is plugged into the wall. Is this a problem with the battery, or my computer??????
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?A replacement Dell XPS M1210 Battery with 12 months warranty on www.global-battery.com.au.

Inappropriate?Dell replaced my battery (M1210) even though it was past the 12 month warranty (2 months). I had only used it a few times so knew the battery was faulty.
