Replaced Keyboard; still not working properly

On my original keyboard on my Inspiron 1420 the cursor would jump around. Now that I've replaced it some of the keys on the keyboard don't work. We're taken the replacement keyboard off and made sure the pins were straight but the cursor still jumps around and some of the keys still don't work.
