Vista 32-bit to 64-bit upgrade....DSN ID 158098
I have had a virus destroy my os. Now that i have to reinstall os and all programs anyway, and some of my engineering apps now support 64bit os, I was hopeing to install 64 bit Vista biz instead of 32 bit. Some research on the Dell forums leads me to believe this is policy.

Hi Chris - I have the same request. My Dell is still under warranty - can you help me out? Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Hi Chris,
I hope you may be able to help. After over 12 hours of calls to Dell UK, 2 hrs 30 mins of which today, I'm more than fed up. The thirteenth person was agreed to get his manager to call me, instead he asked someone I originally spoke to about it 8 months ago. Passed from one person to another, disconnected three times. Called number given by previous person four times, to be told I was not ringing the correct person. Anyway...
I bought an XPS M1530 CJGTP3J. I planned to upgrade to 64 bit, to tie in with when I uprgaded my desktop as I am now doing. 64 bit drivers were a problem originally, but not now I understand. So what I really want to do is upgrade to 64 bit Vista and it seems you may be the only person who can help..! My email address is xps@djlocke.fsnet.co.uk
I await your reply with optimism.
Regards,
David -
I have 3 systems that I purchased for our IT department recently and got the 32 bit Vista so that I could have the XP downgrade option. We started using Vista instead, but would like to use the 64 bit version since all of them have 4GB of RAM. Unfortunately, my sales rep's contacts said we would have to purchase it from Microsoft directly. Is this true? All I need is the 64 bit media. -

Chris - thank you very much! That could not have been easier - I went to Dell TS and did it over the chat in about 5 minutes. I should have my DVD in 3-5 days. Thanks again - I'm very impressed with the support I received today from you and the TS folks. -

TS wouldn't help me, so I ended up calling customer care and complaining. After almost half an hour of holds and transfers it was taken care of. Thanks for the help.
