A full backup/export of your DeskAway account is coming up in the next week - 10 days. We are putting the finishing touches to this functionality. A Super User (the one that created the account) will be able to take a full backup of all the projects and shared/public contacts, blogs and team information.
Did a search but did not see this brought up. Have you considered adding the functionality that allows a user to respond directly via email to a system notification of a message and the contents of that email are then entered into DeskAway as a message comment? They rolled this out with Basecamp in April and it's awesome. Thoughts?
Please add the ability to attach items to messages and issues. Right Now DeskAway is making us more dependent on email as we have to send an email references the message or issue title/number instead of just putting it there. Especially for issues developers can see what you are seeing. Should count towards our account usage limit anyway.
I have a need to 'disable' a user - only for a short time - becuase he changed work assignments, on vacation, etc. I dont want to delete the user, as I want to retain the settings, assignments, etc with the user.
Some tasks require multiple assignments. There are two reasons for this. One is that the task requires two people to complete it. Another is that the same task must be performed by more than one person, and it would be nice to show this as one task with four different checkmarks. For example, the project is recruitement. The team consists of four people, each of whom has to read each application. So an example of a task is "Review John Smith Application." You want to see who has done it, and who has not yet done it, all in one place.
I love the DeskAway task management concept; however, I’d love to see a few more 'intelligence' pieces to make it a more useful tool for me and my team. I will use MS Outlook task manager as an example. It allows me to enter "STATUS" (Not started, In Progress, Waiting on Someone Else) and % Complete. Those statuses allow a project manager to go into the system and see the pending work - and the status - without going outside of the system to remind or ask some one. Just a thought - but I'd love % complete first!
I would like to see a couple of enhancements to the calendar:
the ability to indicate an end time for a meeting, and
the ability to drag an event from one date to another.
The only way I have been able to change a date is to delete it and then add it on the new date
Here is a challenge for you! Come up with a mobile interface for DeskAway, something that would work on a SmartPhone or Blackberry. Very difficult to do with a product as feature rich as DeskAway, but this is the way of the future, and I already see a demand coming from my users for something like this. Lack of a mobile interface drives some users back to the same old email mess. At least it is available on the portable device.
Faster task entry would be very helpful. There is a brainstorming mode of project planning where you just want to get those tasks in there very quickly. You can go back and create dates and assignments later. The faster the better.
How good it would be to get an email every day or week stating your overdue and approaching projects, milestones, tasks and issues...well, we are working on this right now. If you have any suggestions, do put them down here..thanks!
When adding a long list of tasks, it is annoying to have to set the "Assign to" manually for each one... Can't it default to the last choice made? (same as in BaseCamp)
So if I'm adding tasks and assigning them to Jane Doe, the "Assign to" should be set to Jane Doe when it re-opens automatically after adding the last task for Jane Doe, and the next, and the next, until I choose a different person.
Most of my tasks are simple one-liners, but a few have some extra info in the description.
When going over the task list, it would be great if I could see at a glance, which tasks have extra info in the description (without opening each one up). Perhaps a small "document" icon next to the task text could denote that it has extra info inside (this is the way it is done in MS Project for tasks with extra data)
