Does DeskAway allow use of templates for task lists?

That's exactly it. Our workflows often remain the same, but I have to re-enter all of the tasks for each project when it would be much faster to re-utilize a task list via a template. Thanks for the quick response!

This is a feature we really need too! Our workflow is basically alway the same and it would be great if we could reuse tasks list (like the proworkflow project template stuff for example)

Beyond this, being able to sort tasks by 'context' would be indispensable (as in Nozbe). For instance, someone was hoping to make several necessary phone calls in a row because it was convenient for them at that moment, selecting tasks by 'context' would allow someone to select all tasks named "Call - John Doe," etc. Then all tasks across all projects beginning with "Call - ..." would be aggregated, allowing user to then be more productive instead of having to enter each project separately to find these Call tasks. Similar to selecting all tasks for a person.

The ability to assign a template to a category of project would be ideal. Thank you so much for considering the idea - it would be a tremendous time-saver for us.

Just signed up for deskaway and really like what I see, EXCEPT, we have the same task list for all our projects and it is too much trouble to have to enter the 40 exact same tasks and 10 milestones for each new project.

Any update on whether or not we will soon be able to make task list templates?

If we could just copy the entire project and then change the name and details, etc that would also work

I am currently trying another system that has a nice "copy" feature. True templating may be the single most important feature we need. I see a lot of value in DeskAway and have also signed up for an account and will soon convert it to the minimum paid category, and would like to share my ideas on this with you -- I have given this feature a lot of thought.

Like others, we do many highly repetitive projects and would benefit greatly from this ability. The two issues are (a) specific task assignments and (b) specific dates. For specific task assignments, I think I have a good solution. The system should allow tasks in a template to be assigned by role rather than by person. Then, when a project is cloned from a template, it should be possible to map roles to specific people. Important - it must be possible to assign the same person to more than one role. This would do very nicely.

On dates, I do not have a perfect solution. I suppose that defining the all due dates in a template as an offset from the project start date would provide a decent first approximation. However, "Work expands to fill the time allotted to it." For us, an otherwise very similar project might have anywhere from one week to two months to complete, and the due date offsets will vary inevitably in such cases. If anyone can think of something better, I'd love to hear it. One possible improvement would be to have a choice when setting up a due date in a template: Either an offset from the start date, or a percentage of the way through the entire project. This all can get very complicated and brings up the whole concept of task dependence, which I believe is not in DeskAway and you probably don't want it, and I understand that.

I hope these ideas are useful and look forward to seeing what you come up with for this feature. You are wise to recognize this is not a quickie feature, and I am glad to see that.

I thought I'd add my support for task list cloning/templates. I don't want to have to create a new project each time I need to assign a new set of tasks.
