graphics off the web
instead of having me upload a picture from my computer, why not allow me to point to the graphic on the web and have the software grab it from there. though as i write this i'm now wonder if that open dipity up to various copyright issues... -

one timeline treating another timeline like an rss? Last reply on June 26, 2008 01:10.
i'm working on a Bible timeline, but there is a ton of stuff that could potentially be put into the timeline. i was thinking of making both an everything timeline and individual timelines. is it possible to pull the events of one timeline and merge them into another like what is currently possible with rss feeds?
incidentally, is there a limit to how many timelines we can create? -

Zoom settings don't apply when embedding Last reply on June 25, 2008 12:34.
When I use the "7day", or "1day" (actually it's any of the zoom presets) settings when embedding, Dipity always shows me the defaulted month view. Here's a copy of my settings:

FeedBurner, BlogSpot, and older posts
I created a time line for my blog spot blog. I use Feedburner for the feed so using the Blogger one you have set up did not work. I Used Other feeds button. The problem is it does not display any posts before early May. My posts go back a couple of years. How do I fix it? It is at:

Timestamps in Dipity are not correct Last reply on June 03, 2008 14:29.
I noticed that when getting information from a feed that the timestamp is not right. On my blog I have a entry for 7:40PM but dipity displays it as 12:40 AM the next day. I think that this is because feeds like wordpress automatically set the time to GMT +0:00 and dipity is reading that as a local time instead of universal. I know I can fix this in the wordpress php source code to not switch back to GMT +0:00 but what about apps like twitter of youtube, ones that I can't change the code. You should use a similar techniques as Google Reader, all of those entries are accurate. In the feed settings have the user select a time zone and set the time accordingly. This may help to prevent branding me as a night hawk. -

List view needs structure (sort, filter, pagination)
After only a few day I have over 400 items in my timeline. It starts to become a pain that the list
a) is in the wrong order (oldest 1st)
b) has no pagination. I would love browse by days, week, month
c) has no filter possibilities (by source, media, geodata, ???)
d) is not compressable (only titles)/decompressable (full item view)
e) More??? -

What does i.e. '+123' for a timeline item mean? Last reply on May 24, 2008 18:42.
Hovering over an item shows thumb up, thumb down and a number like '+123'.
What does that all mean and esp. how do you calculate the number?
What effect has the thumb down/up? -

Can't add Flickr feed to timeline Last reply on May 22, 2008 15:40.
When I try to add my Flickr feed to Dipity, I get an error that the feed cannot be added. I'm copying the URL from my Flickr account as per the instructions. The URL is http://www.flickr.com/photos/ecbman3/ -

Flipbook render and 'go to' problem Last reply on May 21, 2008 07:29.
The timeline on the bottom of the Flipbook view mode today did not allow me to click on the latest date. The latest date I could choose was April 30th.
Edit: It might have to do with the fact that the little orange triangel seems to collide with the vertical bar on April 30th. See it here:

Nothing against me as author but in the Recently Modified Events list it would be more appropriate and informative to show the source if the event is originating from an RSS feed. -

Why would you put people's full names on the site and/or the URL without asking them if it's ok? Last reply on May 19, 2008 22:12.
I want to change the URL to my personal timeline. It includes my full name. Not cool. Can you make it my username instead?

Enter events with date ranges. Last reply on May 19, 2008 21:39.
I have event's that I would like to enter that don't have specific dates. Like in 1987 my organization had 400 members. It would be nice to be able to enter those events as "1987" or "May 1990." Maybe they would show up on the timeline as a shaded box extending from the beginning of the year/month to the end of the year/month? Or as the flag you have now with a pointed end on it?

My Timeline shows up in category 'regional' (btw. with '0 events') but is not found by search i.e. for Hamburg or Informationen which are words in the title.

Bugs: Nothing in my timeline feed after manually adding two events?
Nothing new in the hamburg.org 'section' although there are new items.
I reloaded my bookmarks from the feed from my Gregarius feed aggregator and voilá the d.i.u descriptions are available.
Changing the feed source for del.icio.us from original to FeedBurner didn't help. No descriptions!
Bug: Embedding a TimeTube timeline (Duffy article) doesn't use the script variables.
User icon is not changeable (Button not working).
Flickr photos in portrait mode take too much space. I would prefer the small square versions as an option.
Mode day view (i.e.) should compress the timeline as an option.
Where are Favicons?
Geotagged Flickr photos don't come with geodata.
What about reading microformats in feed data?
Import tags/categories in feeds i.e. from del.icio.us or blogs.
List view: Descending/Ascending order option
Filter view by feed/source

I am wondering that there is no uproar about the bad event counting in Dipity. There are multiple timelines with content who are shown with '0 events' in search but have content.

(Here I have created events manually to check if they are counted)
