The easiest way to do this is to make sure you've only added events for a single year and zoom in to month view. that should just show you the events for that year on the timeline.

Inappropriate?this is true, but i cant lock the timeline in that position. I have it in a blog now and if you zoom it, you cant find the year anymore.
