DirecTV needs to get on this site and learn customer service
so i call directv tonight when my dvr box is hung-right in the middle of the patriots playoff game. being a veteran of directv issues (i've had my settop box fail 4 times in 2 years), i had already tried to unplug the box, etc to get the problems to go away. the directv tech support guy actually asked me "are you sure you unplugged the box"...and we were off to the races from there. will only send me a refurbished box to replace this one, wouldn't do anything to try to get a box to me quick-it will come late this week, not even a credit for the pay per view movies that i paid for on the failed box. they locked me into a contract extension when i had them send me the hd dvr boxes 6 months ago-so i'll deal with these guys for 12 more months and switch to cable. or perhaps by then hulu or appletv or other will be far enough along that i don't need to deal with this duopoly...

Inappropriate?had another box fail. this time they said they wouldn't replace the box anymore until i had a service call, and they wanted me to pay for the service call! So they finally told me about an equipment insurance plan for $7 a month where they replace equipment and do service calls. the tech came out and set me up with a brand new model hd dvr. let's hope this design is better than the old one.

Inappropriate?I had the exact same experience with DirectTV. I don't mind paying for service or labor when I'm getting something of value, but when I'm paying a company over a thousand dollars a year I'd hope they'd invest a little something in keeping my service working. Making me pay for a problem with THEIR equipment makes me feel nickle and dimed. I have no good reason to not switch to another provider that can offer me even a modest savings now. If they just showed a tiny bit of concern for retaining me as a customer they'd could keep me from bailing, and ultimately keep making $1200 a year. I'm itching to leave now (though I'd prefer to be romanced back).
So shortsighted of this company.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? If you have problems with DirecTV in the future call 310-964-5000 and ask for the office of the president. Be sure to get the name of the person you speak with. If you get the run around at that phone number email the following people and you should get a prompt response...Chase Carey who is the President of DirecTV...chase.carey@directv.com. You could also email Ellen Filipiak at ellen.filipiak@directv.com. She works in the office of the president and helps consumers resolve their consumer complaints. I hope that this helps!
I’m confident
