watching dish network HD files on another player

i have an external HD to which i've moved some dish DVR files. i'm canceling dish and moving to another service (direct tv) but would like to keep / watch the media. i haven't really looked at the files to know much about the format but wondering if someone might be able to help me before i pack up the HD and take it to work (no computer at home a the moment)
