happy I’m confident that everyone will want this that would like their listings to position well in Google for an address search

Detail Listing Not Optimized Well For Address Search

Detail listings are not optimized very well for a street address search. To optimize the detailed listing to position well in the search engines, you must place the address in the

Title: Contains address – good job
Meta-description: missing address Please put the address in this field
Meta-keywords: missing address Please put the address in this field
H1: Contains the address – good job
Body text: Address is missing and should be in there two times

You have three key areas for SEO that are missing the address. If you would like your detail pages to position properly for an address search, please program your server to place the address in the additional areas I’ve described above.

Here is an example of a detail listing that is optimized very well and happens to be the number one result for an address search in Google. The same listing on my iDXpress site is on the third page.

http://www.homefinder.com/IN/Carmel/5...

title: 15370 Whistling Ln. Carmel, IN 46033 | HomeFinder.com | ID: 2931256

meta-description: See photos and schedule a showing for 15370 Whistling Ln. Carmel, IN 46033. This Carmel home was last updated on 03-24-10. Get information about Carmel, IN schools and neighborhood information.

meta-keywords: HomeFinder, 15370 Whistling Ln. Carmel, IN 46033, Carmel home for sale, Carmel real estate

The body copy has the address displayed 3 times.

As you can see, it is effective.

Mike - We'll take your ideas into consideration when we review the SEO for the plugin in the future. There's no 100% perfect formula for this stuff, and we don't take changing things like this lightly at all. We wouldn't want to go ruining the existing ranking people already have in the plugin.

That Said: I for one have found the addresses are indexing quite well.

Jon - I'm just trying to be helpful. Am I 100% sure it will work? No, I'm not. However, I based the suggestion on an in-depth study of address searches that are placing well around the country. Also, I feel I'm qualified to make this suggestion because of my long term success record with SEO work. My results are excellent and have been consistent for nine years.

Click on the keyword phrase to see the current position for each phrase.

Indianapolis Real Estate #1 for the last 4 years, in the top 3 for the last nine years

Indianapolis Homes For Sale #1 for the last 4 years, in the top 3 for the last nine years

Indianapolis Homes #1 for the last 4 years, in the top 3 for the last 9 years

Indianapolis Indiana real estate #1 for the last 4 years

Indianapolis Indiana homes #1 for the last 4 years

Indianapolis MLS #2 I don't press for number one on this search term because the number one site is MIBOR. I'm not sure how they would react being number #2 for the term

Indianapolis Multiple Listing #2. Same as above. MIBOR is number 1.

I could go on but I think I've made the point.

My suggestion will improve everyone's results that use your iDXpress plug-in over time. If you feel I'm a bit aggressive with placing the address two times in the body copy, change it to one. That would help tremendously. Will every address go to number 1? Of course not. But, all of the addresses over time will position higher than they will if you don't take advantage of this opportunity.

I am making changes over the next month to my Indianapolis iDXpress site that should help it achieve a page one presence for all of the terms above within a year. They are competitive terms and this is a new site. Bet you $100 that this site is in the top three sites within a year for every one of the terms above. I'd love to have every address in our MLS in the top three search results for a street address search too.

Thanks for the great work on this WordPress Plug-in. I like it a lot, will continue to use it and recommend it to anyone that wants get lots of listings indexed in the search engines.

    Mike

    Mike -

No please, pour your ideas out, that's what this place is for. I just can't say "we'll do this" or "we'll do that" because we haven't sat down and reviewed all of the SEO tips we've received, the analytics, etc. etc.

Short of it is: these are great ideas. We'll definitely review them when we go over SEO again. :)

While it wouldn't hurt to put addresses in the keyword meta tag, it probably would not help. None of the major search engines have read them since 2002. I don't even use keyword meta tags on my personal site, which is #1 ranked for its most important keyphrase.

silly I’m using this smiley face thingee again. dunno why
The key thing Mike mentioned to to repeat the address in the body text. You can do this by embedding listings in a content page and putting the address several times there.

In the Description would be helpful as well for visibility when it does rank.

Mike is correct. You should do exactly what he outlined above.

Meta-keywords are obsolete and have been for some time now.

There are some good suggestions in there.
