How to make listings default to expanded view?

I am working with dsIDXpress and dsSearchAgent Pro in designing a new website for a client of mine. Currently I have dsIDXpress setup (with the short code) to display all of the agent's listings on her "Listing Page" via a link setup with dsSearchAgent. When you first go to the page it shows the listings with smaller images and less details, then when you click on the "See More" link at the top its displays them with larger images, more detail, etc.

My question is, is there a way to make it so the initial listings page defaults to the view with larger images and more detail?

Listings page (currently): http://englishteam.info/sallys-listings
Expanded view of listings which I would like to be the default view for the above page: http://englishteam.info/idx/67142-sal...

Thanks,

Josh

I think I may have found an answer/solution to my own question for others who may be interested...

The way I have done this is by...

    1) Download the plug-in "Page Links To" (http://txfx.net/wordpress-plugins/pag....
    2) Once activated, the plug-in adds a "Page Links To" section at the bottom of your Page editor
    3) On your listings page, click on the link you currently have that displays all your listings in an expanded view
    4) Copy everything in the URL bar after your domain name (it should start with /idx/...)
    5) Paste that into the "Point to this URL" box which is now at the bottom on your page editor (from the plug-in you installed in step 1).

To see a working example go here: http://www.englishteam.info and click on "Sally's Listings"

  • Glad you found a workaroundto get a WordPress navigation button to link straight to one of our links. It's rumoured WordPress is addressing this in version 3.0 so you will not be restricted in what you can link navigation buttons to.

With this fix/plugin and you wanted visitors to "skip" the shortcode list and go straight to the other list (for larger photos, more details, etc), you can always link directly using the format outlined here: http://wiki.dsidxpress.com/wiki:link-... and here: http://community.dsidxpress.com/diver...

  • I've noticed a lot of people on the forum have asked for larger shortcode pictures and other shortcode-related requests that have made us realize there is some confusion about how these are intended to be used. So without further adieu, to help clarify...

THE HOW AND WHY OF SHORTCODE SETUP
or, WHEN TO USE SHORTCODES vs LINKS

    SHORTCODE

Shortcodes are intended to be used on pages or posts that you create with additional content. A post or page you create that talks about a great new park opening in the neighborhood is the perfect place to add our shortcode with related listings. It provides a glimpse of properties for visitors to browse, and links to more content for SEO.

Shortcode-generated results have small photos and brief info because they are intended to supplement your pages like any other widget or tool you might add to a page. We allow you to change the number of results displayed to help fit whatever spot you want, but they are not designed to fill up an entire page or be used in place of content.

    RESULT PAGES/LINKS

On the other hand, result pages like this one:
    http://nwmls.client-blogs.diversesolu...
...are intended to fill the page with listing info.

These pages have larger photos and more details, but you cannot change the number of results or add other content to the pages (other than your using your template's sidebars/header/footer).

If you want to just show a list of properties with 100s of listings, large photos, details on each listing, and the focus is the lisings; link straight to the results page using the link structure outlined on the wiki and forum pages.

If you are writing a blog or post and want to add listings to your content, then the shortcode is the way to go.
