Auto-only-mostly-hide?
Is the taskbar supposed to still sorta-show-up when it's vertically hidden? It seems distracting; I preferred the way Windows does auto-hide, with a thin colored bar.

Inappropriate? The mechanism is similar to the one in Windows: only a few pixels at the top (or bottom) of the bar show when the bar is hidden.
However there are 2 differences that cause the content of the bar to still show in Fantasktik:
- The bar is thinner than the wWndows taskbar and doesn't have many extra pixels at the top and bottom with no content.
- Unlike in Windows, there is no way to stick Fantasktik to the top of the screen because of the main menu bar in OS X. Because of that Fantasktik needs to show a few more pixels when it's hidden so that users can easily target it.
Thanks,

Ah, that makes sense. What if you optionally added a few "extra pixels" to the top - either all the time, or only as it hides? I tried changing the bar height under Appearance, but that changes the true size of the bar, not the padding. -
Yes that could be done via a new option. I will think about it. -
Inappropriate?I was thinking more about this.. I don't know anything about CoreAnimation, but the best way to do it is probably this:
1. Slide Fantasktik down the way you currently do.
2. Dissolve the remaining pixels into a plain gray bar, using a fairly short duration - kinda the way the iPhone 3.0 does when you go from the Home screen to the Search screen. -
Inappropriate?I haven't checked iPhone OS 3 yet but from your description I guess it could be done quite easily in Core Animation.
