Expanded (resized) app windows go behind the Fanstasktik bar
The previous version would force the application windows to resize so they fit the available viewport, without being placed behind the bar. In the latest update, this has broken, so on my 13,3'' MacBook, I have to manually resize windows so they don't go behind Fantasktik. Any idea why this behaviour broke in the latest update?
Thanks,
Fotis

Inappropriate? This is because Sidekick was retired from Fantasktik 1.4. However, since version 1.2 you can use the "Auto-hide when the active window is behind Fantasktik" option. It will allow you to resize/move the windows easily when they overlap Fantasktik. And, usually, the windows won't be under Fantasktik the next time you launch the application.
The reason why Sidekick was removed from Fantasktik is that it was creating more issues than it solved. Sidekick was an Input Manager that allowed some programs to become aware of the position of Fantasktik. Unfortunately, as with most Input Managers, this generated many conflicts with other applications and could sometimes cause crashes.
The other reason is that Apple is slowly discontinuing the support for Input Managers and Sidekick would probably have become more and more of a support nightmare because of that. -
Inappropriate?I just discovered an easy fix for this today. Applications won't respect Fantasktik's position, but they do respect the dock's position.
First, select Fantasktik's option to ignore the dock position and set Fantasktik's position to the bottom of the screen.
Next, set the dock to always be visible and place it at the bottom of the screen.
Then use the following terminal command to resize the dock to the same height as Fantasktik (10 worked for a 26 fantasktik bar height but you may need to experiment).
defaults write com.apple.dock tilesize -int 10; killall Dock
Restart your computer, and the dock will be hidden behind Fantaktik and applications will not overlap it!
