Open Source implementation, license?
What copyrights or patents are you holding on this idea? What would be your position if someone took your concept ideas or part of them and turn it into an open source application?

Inappropriate?I can only speak as the developer here, and I would say it really depends on what you want to do.
We've spent (and we're still spending) a lot of time with Yann turning the concept into a real Mac application. That means a lot of tuning, thinking and work to create something that improves usability and is not only a pretty demo.
If an "opensource application" means making another native Mac application that is just a simple opensource copy of Grape, I would find it pretty pointless and also, to be honest, a bit disrespectful for all the work that's been done.
However I know opensource is not about that, and I assume you mean picking up some of the ideas and integrating them in a different project like a KDE enhancement tool or something like that.
In this case I would suggest you contact Yann directly since he created the concept and might be interested in seing his ideas integrated in other projects.
Thanks,
