The actual desktop still shows through the translucent menu bar...
(you can see that the layered image doesn't match the menu bar background)
Though I like the idea, having the actual desktop still show through the translucent menu bar is somewhat distracting. I suppose just disabling the translucent menu bar would be a temporary fix, but it is more of a work-around than a real solution. I'm not sure if the layered image can be tucked up under the menu bar or not, but it should be looked into.

Inappropriate?Josh,
Thanks for your feedback.
I'm aware of this problem and have been trying to find a workaround.
SpaceSuit creates an image that fills the screen but the part under the menu bar is simply ignored by OS X. I tried different things and looked at other utilities but I haven't found any solution yet.
However, I still have a few ideas to try out, so hopefully I'll be able to fix it in the next release.
Thanks,
Stephane -
Inappropriate?Unfortunately, after further investigation, it turns out to be a technical imitation of OS X.
Other utilities that add images at the desktop level are having the same issue.

Hi Stephane - the only way I could find to do this in Hyperspaces was to set the system desktop background on each space change. It's slow and it meddles with the user's default settings, so I leave it disabled by default.
I've had some very good reverse engineers looking at other ways of triggering an update to the menubar, but they haven't found anything yet unfortunately :( If they do, I'll happily share it with you. -
Hi Tony. Thanks, I really appreciate that.
I will send you an email to discuss a few things about Hyperspaces/SpaceSuit
