I'd like to be able to create an event on Dopplr that other people can say their attending, the way O'Reilly has done for their upcoming conferences (see http://radar.oreilly.com/2008/07/orei... ). Any chance that's a feature I could get access to or would be made available in the near future?
I created a trip with multiple segments. I ended up needing to change my travel, adding a stop in a new city. Well, either it doesn't exist or it was unclear to me how one makes such changes. Instead, I added a new trip and that ended up being added separately AFTER the existing trip, even though this stop is smack-dab in the middle of the previous trip.
I messed up the dates when adding a few past trips. Is there any way to fix those? Logged in, I can't even find any of my past trips... Am I missing something, or is that just the way it is?
I am planning a trip to India in October. I consider it one trip with multiple stops. However, Dopplr can only manage each stop as a related trip.
I would like my travel history to state that I am planing one trip with multiple destinations. Right now, it states that I am planing several trips i October, each of my stops in India being treated as a separate, but related trip.
Could you make an option where trips could grouped if necessary? Thanks
Please support open jaw trips. Let us create arbitrary multi-segment trips with undefined waypoints and waydates. This also lets us insert and edit arbitrary and ad-hoc trip segments. Sometimes we don't know in advance everywhere a trip can take us.
Please support nested trips in your schema. Sometimes the first and enclosing trip serves as a stage for another trip. Be smart and let trips launch yet more trips. Let the schema, calendar, and tools support such itineraries (and not close out all trips when the first one ends).
Can I have different transport options for trip? At the moment the choices are plane, train, automobile. I often travel by bus, or even ferry! It would help with the carbon calculation, non?
Hi! Thank you for Dopplr. It's great! Absolutely.
And there's a little question for you. If I change my home city from one to another how does it affect my previous trips? I mean - if I had a trip from Liverpool (home city) to Mexico and after all I change my home city to Tokio will that trip change from L'pool - Mexico to Tokio - Mexico? And what about planning trips? Will those ones change to Tokio - ... or not?
I'd like to see Notes on Trips exposed more. When I look at a friend's planned trips for the next six months, they may have 3 or 4 cities listed, and almost always there is 1 Note for each, describing what the trip is for, made by the user taking the trip.
Figuring out why my friend is going to be in my town and three other towns takes an awful lot of clicking, then clicking back, then more clicking just to see a single sentence that is most often like "visiting family" or "attending the $foo Conference". I'm specifically asking about adding information to a dopplr.com/traveller/$username page. I like to quickly scan that page for friends (it's my main interface to the entire site, surfing friends' profile pages) and know why they're going to be in town in a single glance.
Certainly, it'd be easy to just surface those short descriptions (even just the first 200 characters would be enough) on a user's home page of Trips, no? Basically if the first Note is by the same author as the Trip, then show the first x characters on their main user page along with the Trip information.
If promoting the first Note up on a user's page is too much to ask, I notice that "Notes" are used like comments in similar systems and maybe what I'm asking for is instead a standalone "trip description" field that is separate from Notes that could be surfaced for easy scanning of where and when (this would add Why) my friends will be traveling.
Dopplr thinks everything happens at midnight GMT. One way of handling the time of update without having to manage all travel details as Tripit does would be to allow the flights to be associated with the trip. You'd need to check flight arrival information, but that is on the internet, assume I make the flight.
I could add my outbound and inbound flights and then Dopplr would be able to check when I've arrived in my stated location and tell Fire Eagle the right information. Rather than pretend that at midnight I instantly move 3500 miles west =)
It's a pain to have to leave the journal to do the obvious: adding a note, for example, after uploading pictures to Flickr, I might want to add a note.
