Tripit and Dopplr - work together?
I'm a tripit.com user. I'd love you to be able to import the trips in Tripit to my Dopplr profile. Tripit and Dopplr do different things - and do them well. I reckon you should get together !

Inappropriate?TripIt offers an iCal feed. Get the URL of that feed.
Then give that URL to Dopplr as if you were getting it from, say, Google Calendar. Go to the "Subscribe to external calendars" page on Dopplr and give us that URL.

this is one of the best points

Hello, thanks for the suggestion.
Can I ask you to further support: the url I'm trying to past ono Dopplr, following your link is structured as follows:
webcal://www.tripit.com/feed/ical/people/name/tripit.ics
and I get an error message.
Can you help? -
Inappropriate?Hi, I think you should have an FAQ on the differences between TripIt and Dopplr. I started out using TripIt and
http://twitter.comm/mpeacock
http://travelcommons.com
peaked my curiosity to try Dopplr. It seems likie a simpler interface for sharing basic trip details, but that it does not yet have features to have many trip details like flight#'s, seats, hotel confirmation numbers, etc. except in the notes.
It would be great for instance if you could SMS or send a Twitter message to Dopplr to indicate say you were changing flights.
Like maybe you would SMS
-US2039 +US2041
to show you were taking the 4:00PM flight rather than the 3:00 PM flight. TripIt does not have a good way to update it from SMS or Twitter. This is a case where since Dopplr has a more robust infrastructure for receiving updates, you might even be able to update TripIt. Other good SMS/Twitter things one might want to update would be:
*The room# you get at a hotel;
*Your seat assignment on a plane;
*A flight change as noted;
*If you got upgraded on a flight at a hotel or at a car rental business;
*If you got bumped from your flight. E.g. you might want to count the number of times in a year you were able to get upgraded or bumped.
*If your flight was delayed or cancelled, again you may want to count the number of times this happens in any given time period;
etc. All of these things I'd see Dopplr getting by SMS or Twitter and possibly updating TripIt.
Thanks.
