Company accounts with Admin tools would be great for dropbox.
I would like to suggest a company account for dropbox where a firm would pay for the subscription for its users and control how they use it especially with regards to file permissions and usage policies. I am sometimes worried that when I share a folder and/or file that someone may inadvertently delete it and this will not be realized until we need it.

Inappropriate?Pendolino,
You're absolutely right. On top of file permissions, we're also going to make group accounts available that let several users share a single pool of storage. Look for this stuff to come out in the future.

it would be great if you could give us some time range when you plan to get this out. group accounts are a great idea because they can replace some of our company 'shared folders' for good. -
any idea on when roughly this would be available? -
my company very much needs this! we are a IT firm that would recommend this solution regularly to our clients if this was available. -
Inappropriate? We use dropbox with the six of us for all running projects and our dropbox is always 90-98% full. If Dropbox does not make this company accounts fast we have to switch to a different service!

I agree. -
Inappropriate?Same here. We tested dropbox with some recent projects and it's most exactly what we need. But for further use it is inevitable to have something like a business-account. We definetly have the need of 10, 20 or 30 GB, but all those user are going to work with the same data.
It seems appropriate to charge like ten bucks for a single user. With a work-group though comes the need for more economic offerings, considering one has like 5 or 10 people working on one and the same project.
And for sure: an admin-tool is a must-have.
Can you dropboxers tell in what timeframe you're going to figure something like that?! Concerning some of your replys and the overall readable requests in that matter I asume you're working on that, aren't you?
Wich is something I need to know, 'cause otherwise I'd have to look for a similar service elsewhere. And honestly I don't want that—you're tool is working fine and I rather like the look&feel.

christian - i am not sure if the dropbox folks will find an acceptable solution for you or us but i would like to ask that you inform us of any alternatives that you think would successfully fill this gap. -
There are some—for instance box.net, jungle disk, elephant drive ... I've to admit, I really like the dropbox-approach. Simple and efficient! That's what counts. And what draws us to this service. And, by the way, I don't want to have them all checked out. So. please dropboxers, give us a sign ;o) -
Inappropriate?Hi everyone,
Because projects and priorities at Dropbox are always in a state of flux, I can't give out an ETA. This isn't to say that group accounts aren't important to us-- they really are, but I don't want to give out an inaccurate estimate. Thanks for your patience and I'm sorry for the wait.
