Inappropriate?I encountered the same problem when I was trying to install Dropbox on Windows (I've downloaded the latest build - 0.6.507). It stopped halfway with the message: Installation Aborted. Setup was not completed Successfully. Image here: http://yfrog.com/0hdropboxinstallfailp

Inappropriate? If you're having this issue with the default build of Dropbox, please try this build and see if the problem is resolved. If it's not, please contact support@getdropbox.com.

Inappropriate?I had the same problem. It got fixed by running the installer as Administrator (right click -> run as administrator).

Inappropriate?I tried running as an administrator and still it freezes at "Setup was not completed successfully". I believe it must be some issue between the MSI and antivirus settings on my work laptop. Is there any exe or other setup file that I can install from? I am able to run those (such as Digsby, etc.) without problems

Inappropriate?I had this problem right now when tryed to install dropbox.-.
SOLUTION:
install the C++ runtime library
or
manually download an install (put in windows\system32 directory) the needed MSVCP71.DLL
( http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll... )

Inappropriate?I have similar issue with installing dropbox 0.6.537 on windows XP, is there an earlier version to install ?
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Lavand, the DLL fix did not resolve the issue. Is there any other way?

Inappropriate?gkumar did you tried to install the whole visual C++ runtime library? could not be the only ddl missing in your system.
Otherwise, try to install a debug build (one of those posted by Drea will do the job) and check the error log, and then post the log here. -
Inappropriate?I have Visual Studio C++ Express installed, and I manually placed the MSVCP71.DLL in Windows\System32 and Windows\System. I tried running the setup file here: http://dl-web.getdropbox.com/u/17/Dro... and the latest version of 570 too.
I get an error "Installation was not completed successfully"

Inappropriate?ok go to the install dir (I gues was created there), open the installation error log and post what it says !

Inappropriate?Where is the log located? I do not see a log. I am installing off the Desktop into the default Program Files location

Inappropriate?Folks, I had similar problems on Windows7 Ultimate. It was not the VisualC++ libraries missing, nor did Drea's alternate install turn the trick.
What I found was that my first failed attempt left some files in temp. It is possible that I was missing the VisualC++ libraries at that time, because I did add them for a separate product (OpenSSL.) There were also a number of reg keys. I deleted all of those, and then re-ran the setup and it installed flawlessly.
In 7, check your userprofile\app data\roaming (which by default is a hidden directory!) for the temp files. I don't have an XP machine to check, but I am sure you can just search for anything with dropbox in the name and find it easily.
Cheers,
Ed

I’m happy Dropbox works for me now!

Inappropriate?Retrohack, what registry files did you delete? I deleted a dropbox folder in C:\Documents and Settings\gkumar\Application Data\Dropbox and reinstalled. In the progress bar, I went further than before (3/4 as opposed to 1/4 towards completion) and then it hung again like my screenshot above. What registry entries did you delete? Perhaps once I know that, the installation will proceed to completion.
