When will there be a output plugin for SnagIt (TechSmith)?

Hi there,

I do miss a SnagIt (9) output plugin, with which I can send SnagIt screenshots / images directly into my public dropbox folder!

Hi Phillipp,

We're still working on fleshing out Dropbox and making sure we have the proper stability and bug-free-ness before launch. That said, we do have plenty of API and other fun projects in line in the future, and SnagIt wouldn't be too out of line of our roadmap. I'll let you know as we make progress on this :)

Can't you just set Snagit to create its capture files into the public folder on your computer, that Dropbox will then automatically sync to the web?

You can, but what I have seen other applications do is when you put something into the Dropbox public folder, it will give you the URL of that newly shared item to paste somewhere, similar to how Snagit currently gives you the URL for their Screencast site when you upload an image there.

I don't get that point, yes you get the public URL - and? My point was about putting the image(s) in the folder in the first place...this is where norz has made a good suggestion definitely.

I was just sharing an idea for a handy feature that both Snagit and Jing do when you use their photo sharing sites as opposed to Dropbox. When you take a pic in Snagit or Jing and put it online, you can automatically get the public URL to paste into Twitter, IRC, whatever. Not a huge deal since you can do that via a right click on the file (in Windows, at least), but if there were ever to be an official plugin for Snagit, I'd suggest that as one of the features.
But, in your case, if you just want the images to be placed into your Dropbox, a custom profile is perfect for that like norz described.

Yeah but how should SnagIt realize this? I mean first this is a post @Dropbox GS forum, second the reason for such a plugin I request is indeed that, as SnagIt doesn't provide that (and it shouldn't!). Or basically TechSmith does provide it via Jing, you name it. Still, it is about the SnagIt workflow - and what about the point that indeed my screenshots need to be distributed to lots of different folders? There a custom profile would only hinder me. I personally don't even use them a lot because (at least until now) I had so many OS reinstalls or similar stuff, I just had to do it all again, so wasn't worth it for me...
