You should be able to give a custom URL to a dropbox public folder.
Like the subject says...I want to be able to make something http://dropbox.com/randomname and have that be my public URL

Inappropriate?Yup, we've been talking about browsable public directories internally for quite some time now, and it's definitely a possibility. It'll be a while before this comes out though.
