Accessing voicemail with Skype
Being an overseas new sign-up, I like the idea of the voicemail, but as you can imagine it will be a bit on the expensive side to leave a voicemail. Is there a way of using Skype to leave voicemails directly on drop.io? Maybe its done already and I don't know how to.

Inappropriate?Hi Bergie,
If you mean, is there a way to use Skype to dial in to voicemail for free, then no, there isn't. We're going to expand to international numbers as soon as we can but for now they're U.S.-based.
About the secure connection, this is something that is on our list too.
Best,
Peter F.

Inappropriate?Bergie, I've done quite a bit of coding with Skype and technically I can say "more things are possible than most people know". There is a way to do what you want but it's not elegant and not free. In short, you need a SkypeIn account with vm for someone to call a regular number, or just the paid vm service for your Skype contacts to call. Messages to your Skype account get forwarded to your drop. I'm leaving out a lot of details to keep this brief. Let me know if you are serious about more details.
It's much easier to do things like this:
- Accept a file from a Skype contact that goes directly into your drop.
- Have specific or all chat messages, to or from you, posted to your drop.
- Have people request files from your drop through chat.
- Automatically update your drop with your Skype online status and other info. (if you really want to be annoying, we can update Twitter with your Skype status too: "I'm talking on Skype", "I'm texting with Fred on Skype", "Fred just sent me a file, get it from my drop here..."
- Check your drop from anywhere on the internet to see if someone has sent you a Skype message to your home PC.
Ahhh, if only all of these were practical applications that people would pay for.... :)
I’m wishing I had a buck for every time I told someone they could have what they asked for...
