Other countries.. not just the USA!
I think your service is great!! however, some people using this are based in UK and other countries.. any chance for some local calling numbers? I would love to be able to use some sort of "jott" type service, and reckon the voice message would help out ...

Inappropriate?Hey Jez,
We absolutely want to extend drop.io into other countries and offer local numbers so you can phone in your messages, etc. The two things that keep us from being able to handle that are bandwidth concerns and also developing the kind of business relationships necessary to move into areas outside of the U.S.
If you or anyone else reading this happen to know of any solutions to the later we are all ears. Get in touch with us at contact@dropio.com.
Thanks,
Peter F.

I’m excited about drop.io working across the pond(s).

Inappropriate?I'm planning on using drop.io when I travel in Europe this fall by calling the New York number. Are you saying this won't work? It's actually cheaper to call a U.S. number than a local mobile number in some parts of Europe.

Inappropriate?Puddin,
If you call in to the number and don't mind the long distance charge then yes, absolutely, you can use the voicemail number for your drop.
Best,

Inappropriate?I would like to see 3jam.com text alerts integrated for drop io updates to out of the US numbers like Australia. I would like my fiancee in Australia to know when I put up a voicemail... not just to her email, but to her actual mobile phone. Can you guys integrate this somehow with 3jam? I know it could go through twitter, but that is SO confusing and I'm not sure it will work.
I’m hoping for SMS alerts in Australia somehow!!

Inappropriate? Why don't you partner with Skype or use their API to access voice and store it. There are other third party apps that use Skype for record and store.
Most new mobiles provide Wifi and there are services like Fring that provide for mobile to Skype access. Could provide the most cost effective route for users in other countries and travelling.
Just a thought... -
Inappropriate? From outside of US, you can try to call your drop.io voicemail number with http://www.jajah.com on landline , or mobile line too. Local rates! : http://www.jajah.com/prices/?country=...
