Messages from other Google Voice accounts not linking properly to contacts
I'm using my Google Voice account with Textnow. When someone who doesn't have a google voice account sends me a message and it gets forwarded from Google Voice to Textnow, they are properly linked to my iPhone contacts.
However, when I receive a message from a Google Voice number, it is not properly linked. I'm guessing there's something with the syntax of the email subject line or something that's different with these messages.

Oh okay. That makes sense. The app looks for phone numbers with the Mobile, Home, Work, Main, Pager, and Other labels, which explains why it couldn't fine the phone number with the custom Google Voice label.
I am glad everything is working for you now.

Inappropriate? Can you show me what the email address looks like when it is from another Google Voice number?
We can make the proper adjustments on the server so that it does link properly.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Or even better: can you send a text to my GV number using your GV?

Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Well, this morning it finally linked up. I got up and opened Textnow and the problem is gone. I assumed you'd done something on the server already. :-)
I believe there's also a difference in syntax depending on whether the person is in your Google Voice address book or not, but both the contact that worked and the one that didn't work right away were in my Google Voice address book.
I'll go ahead and send you a test just in case.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I am glad it works for you now. :) When it showed up as a number instead of a contact before, was the contact added in your phone's address book?
-
Inappropriate?Yes, they were in my phone's address book, but the number was labelled with a custom field called "Google Voice."
When it didn't work, I changed the Google Voice field to the standard mobile, deleted the thread from Textnow and started it again by sending them a message from the web interface to which they replied. They still didn't show up linked to their contact.
I went to bed, got up, and there it was. :-)
I’m amused
