BlueHarvest asks repeatedly for authentication with drives mounted
Hi,
whenever I have a drive mounted [via sftp] with ExpanDrive, BlueHarvest (zeroonetwenty.com/blueharvest) is repeatedly asking me to authenticate with my admin password. There probably is a good reason for this, but it gets annoying after a while. The precise process that is asking is: blueharvestd and it is asking for the right: system.privilege.admin I have no idea whether this is ExpanDrive's fault or BlueHarvest's but even if you cannot do anything about it, maybe you have some insight I could then pester the BlueHarvest people with.
Thanks,
Markus

Inappropriate?I got a reply from the developer of BlueHarvest. This is triggered by ExpanDrive mounting servers like non-HFS disks (or local volumes). BlueHarvest tries to delete items like .Spotlight-V100 from these and needs an admin password for this.
I’m undecided.

Inappropriate?Hi, Markus,
Thanks for bringing the issue with BlueHavest to our attention. There are several issues at work here, which we'll have to investigate more closely before a solution will be possible. -

We've got a beta of our sftp V2 layer in testing
http://downloads.expandrive.com/1.5.0...
Blue Harvest seems to work just fine over here with v2. Could you test it out for us?

Inappropriate?Blue Harvest still regularly asks for the admin password (using BH 1.5.0b4). According to the Blue Harvest developer this is due to the items in the Disks section (in Advanced mode in Blue Harvest), ie, .fseventsd, Spotlight-V100, .Trashes etc. being removed by Blue Harvest.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?Hi Markus,
The thing is, there’s really no reason to use Blue Harvest with an ExpanDrive volume. ExpanDrive does not leave .DS_Store, AppleDouble, .Trashes, or similar files on the server.
The reason this issue comes up is because we pretend to make some of those files when the operating system asks us to. The do important things, and make some thing work better. But we don’t actually write them to the server, and the completely disappear when the volume is disconnected.
Ideally, you should be able to turn off Blue Harvest on a per-server or per-disk basis. It doesn’t appear that you can do this with Blue Harvest, though. We’d be happy to work the Blue Harvest developer to make this happen. It’s quite easy to write a function that will determine if a file or volume belongs to ExpanDrive.
I’m happy

I've forwarded the info given by you to Blue Harvest's developer (incl. the offer to work with him). I agree that the ball is in his court now. -
The developer of Blue Harvest pointed my to a whitelist functionality (that I had thought referred only one aspect of Blue Harvest but in fact covers everything) that allows me to exclude my ExpanDrive drives from Blue Harvest. Everything works fine now, no constant authentification dialogues and also no invisible files on the server. -
Inappropriate?BlueHarvest’s developer says this is fixed (ExpanDrive volumes will be ignored) in version 2.0.5, which should be out quite soon.
I’m happy
