Copy operation "cannot be completed" (requires only existing read rights)
Copy operation from remote server to an Apple Mac Notebook returns: The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items. However, I do have sufficient privileges (Finder can bring this file directly, connecting to the same server as a remote server).

Sorry you're having trouble - we'd like to fix it!
Are you connecting using FTP or SFTP?
Any additional info you can provide would be useful!

Inappropriate? The copy problem happens while using FTP, and it is unexpected: Finder connects to the external server via ftp://xxx normally; it is just that Finder doesn't allow more than read activity, so that is not sufficient. But read and copy works OK with Finder, while it doesn't with ExpandDrive. The server is running a Sun UNIX OS and I access it via VPN.
I also reported a second problem yesterday: if I try to connect via SFTP, I receive another message, telling that I have the wrong version (there some 1.5 in the error message, I am now in a windows machine unable to reproduce the problem).
The advantage of connecting via FTP would be that the transfer of files is faster than connecting via SFTP (I am correct in this assumption?), but both fail. I succeed to connect via SFTP to another machine in the company, through the same VPN tunnel, that runs Linux instead of SUN UNIX, but this other one has no FTP and the transfer is a bit less than 1/2 the speed of the transfer (for download) that I have directly with Finder when I read a file (I compare here Finder via FTP to that Sun UNIX OS downloading the same file I download connecting to the same network with ExpanDrive via SFTP to the Linux machine).
Please tell me any other thing information I could bring in order to help fixing the problem ...
Thanks in advance -

We're going to be putting a beta up of 1.3.2 later today which fixes some issues with FTP we've been seeing. Hopefully it'll be taken care of.
With regard to SFTP, it seems you're running too old a version of SFTP and we're not going to be able to support connections to that particular server. Sorry about that, but there isn't much we can do.

Inappropriate?Hi, unfortunately the new beta didn't solve the problem. I am still both: able to copy from the same sun UNIX remote server using Finder (standard operation), connecting to it via ftp://servername, and at the same time unable to copy from the same servername mounted using ExpanDrive as an FTP (not SFTP). The same message appears: " The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges..." which has no meaning in this context. What I see in addition is that when trying to copy a file something came, as if a portion of the file were transferred, but the text in it is entirely garbled. I then opened a terminal window and also tried: ftp servername, so not using the ExpanDrive mounted object, then downloaded the same file: it comes perfectly. In doing so I noticed a message on the screen: "Entering Extended Passive Mode (|||64334|)", perhaps that is relevant? Or perhaps the output of any of the commands shown by ftp help may be useful to detect where the problem is? Or perhaps the fact that I access the server through a VPN is relevant (albeit pretty standard nowadays)? That I can copy with Finder but cannot put, get or even give a look with ExpanDrive is just not satisfactory.
