Drive is not accessible. Incorrect function.
My environment:
- Client: Windows XP 32 bit with ExpanDrive 1.8.3
- LAN server: Ubuntu with default SSH server.
- Remove/WAN server: Ubuntu with default SSH server.
My history:
- Installed demo version of SFTPdrive (version 1.7.9 i believe) roughly a month ago.
- Used it a couple of times without any issues what so ever.
- Demo expired.
Today:
- Uninstalled SFTPDrive.
- Downloaded and installed demo version ExpanDrive 1.8.3.
- Bought ExpanDrive and received license file, which immediately was recognized and accepted by ExpanDrive.
This is when the problems started...
More or less every other attempt to access a remote folder is now rejected with the quite meaningless error message "X:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function." Google directed me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315350/, which unfortunately only deals with this problem when it is caused by Easy CD Creator.
I see no logic in when the errors occur: If I navigate to a folder and repeatedly refresh the folder contents I sometimes see the contents and sometimes I get the error message.
I have tried this with both a LAN server and a remote server and it is the same issue in both cases.
I can access the remote server using WinSCP without issues. I would also like to mention that I can access the folders on the LAN server using Samba/SMB.
All in all, I get the impression that everything fell apart with the move from SFTPDrive to ExpanDrive. Is it possible to receive a license key for SFTPDrive and reinstall that one instead to see if that solves the problem?
Regards
Mikael Svensson
Ps. Restarting the system did not help.

Can you email support@expandrive.com, I've got a couple tools that'll help us debug this issue. Sorry it's not working for you. My immediate reaction is that there is some sort of installation issue that isn't immediately obvious, but you seem to have already taken the initial steps I'd recommend to get that going

Inappropriate?I've been having essentially the same problem for a few weeks. Windows XP, SFTPDrive 1.5.3.0 purchased via the TextDrive promotion. Occassionally everything works fine after a reboot, but that hasn't worked for a while.

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem, reported several weeks ago. I also noticed that WebDrive (a competitor) does not have this problem (installed on the same client machine, accessing the same server), which leads me to believe the issue is with ExpanDrive. Using Win XP SP3 / ExpanDrive 1.8.3

Inappropriate?I too had the demo version of SFTPdrive. I purchased Expandrive as soon as it was released on windows only to be greeted by this "Incorrect function" error. This has been happening for months now.
I’m annoyed

Inappropriate?I gave up already and have been using WebDrive since without any problems. I guess ExpanDrive will soon be out of business. A pity I wasted my money on their product.

Inappropriate?Hello!
I have had this problem ever since I purchased and installed Expandrive onto my computer when it was released. I have been extremely frustrated that this problem hasn't been solved by Expandrive.
I finally had it one day and I decided to figure out what the problem is and I am happy to report that I have the solution to the problem.
The problem is that explorer is trying to access a "Special Folder" which is being mapped to a location on the remote drive.
In my case my "My Pictures" was being mapped to "W:\home\lmmoore\My Pictures"
For some reason, either explorer or Expandrive doesn't like it and throws an "Invalid function" error.
The solution is to make sure that all your "Special Folders" are not being mapped to a remote drive.
Please follow these instructions:
1. Choose Start > Run.
2. In the Open box type Regedit and click OK.
3. Browse to the following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
4. Verify the drive, path, or variables are valid for each of the keys.
For each of these keys on the right hand side there is a Data column. Each entry that refers to a variable or a path name - each value needs to refer to a valid drive, path or variable. These path names may be unique to your individual PC - to restore the defaults it may be necessary to examine a known working machine, or contact a Microsoft Windows technician for additional help.
An additional note: Please pay attention to the "Type" column. My previous "My Pictures" type was "REG_SZ" and when I entered "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Pictures" as my new value. It wasn't finding the location.
I had to delete the "My Pictures" entry and add it again but with a "REG_EXPAND_SZ" (Expandable String Value) type.
Best of luck to you all!

Inappropriate?Hello:
I am have the same problem but solution proposed for Leigh Moore not works for me.
I haven`t any "Special Folder" mapped to a location on the remote drive.
And routes on Regedit are OK.
Thanks.
