Inappropriate?altamic - This generally happens when the connection upload speed happens to be really slow and we can't upload 64kb of the file within 30 seconds. We're going to be modifying this behavior to remove the limitation.
Email support@magnetk.com if you're interested in helping us test out an update

Inappropriate?I’m too getting this again. It seems to have been fixed, but now I’m getting it again, and unfortunately it really makes expndrive rather useless for me.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate? We're about to release a patch that directly addresses this
-
Inappropriate?Is this fixed in 1.2.10 ?
-
Inappropriate?Michael -
This problem is a result of a large file block being written out, usually 64k, that takes more than 30 seconds to complete. If your connection is spotty/droppy, a -36 will sometimes get returned, or if it is less 5kbps upload speed. We can add in some options to force this not to happen, but as of 1.2.10 we're quite happy with the behavior, can you give it another test?

Inappropriate?I'll give it another whirl on my mac when I get home. I am attempting to connect to a dreamhost sftp account, and I have always had the -36 issue with anything other than small files.
-
Inappropriate?I'm getting this problem on FTP transfers with version 1.3.1. Is this a regression?
(The FTP behavior seems weird, too... the Finder progress bar on a 63 MB copy goes immediately to 62 MB and stays there for a while as the upload actually happens, and then I get the Error code -36. This also breaks the connection, but Expandrive doesn't notice.)
(Edit: another thing, the Finder error window indicates an empty filename, just a "".)
I’m frustrated
-
Alex - Can you give a little more info about what is happening? How many seconds after the upload starts does it happen, vs how long you'd expect the transfer to take? Also - what do you mean by the empty filename?
If you could e-mail support@magnetk.com with any info you have, it'd be quite useful! -
Jeff - email sent today. The empty filename was literally two quotation marks with nothing in between.
Beta 3 fixed the -36 error, but I've got a problem on my PowerPC machine now that's unrelated (it's a crash on startup). -
Inappropriate?Another user here getting that error. Trying to upload to dreamhost, which admittedly is erratic. Cyberduck is pushing the files at ~100K/sec, but Expandrive keeps -36'ing me.
I’m bummed
-
Oren - Are you seeing these errors with SFTP or FTP? Do they happen instantly, or after a certain amount of time? -
Hi Jeff,
I'm connected via SFTP. They happen after 30-45 seconds. Looking at the server, I can see that only some portion of the 20MB file was transfered, between 100KB the first time and 1.8MB the third.
I'll try again from home and see if a different internet connection helps. -
Oren - What version of ExpanDrive are you using? The 1.3.x line has big improvements -
I was running 1.3.1 at the time of the bug. I've since upgraded to 1.3.2b1. My network connection is going much faster right now, and I'm not able to reproduce it. -
Inappropriate?I'm seeing the same error. Just installed v1.3.1 as a test. The connection to my server at ftp.fatcow.com works and I can see the files on the server, but when I try to copy files from the Finder to folders on the fatcow server I get a dialog saying "...some data in " " could not be read or written. (Error code -36)". The file I am attempting to upload is 40mb and my dsl upload speed is being reported as 520Kbps.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate? Can you update to 1.3.2b5 over the software update preference pane and give it another go? We've fixed many of these issues recently, so it's hard to know if that's a new problem or if it has been fixed
-
Inappropriate?David -
Have you made any more progress on figuring out when this fails? -
Inappropriate?I'm getting this problem with v2.0 and Amazon S3, which is then followed by error -1407 when I try to create a new folder to manually break the copy down into smaller chunks.
