ExpandDrive fails to install MacFUSE, and then refuses to run.
ExpandDrive keeps asking me to install MacFUSE. I say "okay", type in my password, and a few seconds later ExpanDrive says "Install Error - Something happened that we eididn't expect, and we weren't able to install ExpanDrive [...]". I can no longer use the product that I paid for, and haven't been able to do so for a month now. I have emailed Magnetk with no reply. Can anyone help me?

Inappropriate? We’re really sorry that you’re having trouble. Tis problem is definitely something we want to fix. I’ve got a few questions:
Are you on Leopard or Tiger?
Have you installed MacFUSE yourself before? Maybe with macports or fink? -
Inappropriate?I didn't install MacFUSE manually before the problem occured, but have since installed it manually to try and fix the problem. I am running the latest release of Leopard.
-
Inappropriate?leftspin - so as far as you know now, MacFUSE is correctly installed via your manual process, but ExpanDrive still complains?
-
Inappropriate?Yes. I have also since reinstalled ExpanDrive from your web site (just did it after your last post). Same problem; ExpanDrive offers to install MacFUSE, but then shows an Install Error dialog.

Inappropriate?leftspin -
sorry about the trouble
Can you run
'open /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext/Contents/Info.plist'
in the terminal, which will open up property list editor. Perhaps you could take a screenshot of the contents of Info.plist so we can figure out what is going on.

Inappropriate? After upgrading from 10.6 to 10.6.1, Expandrive upon launching tells me that I need to install MacFuse. Which is already installed.
I clicked "Install MacFuse" again to make your application "happy"
Then it gives me this error message. How can i fix this asap, and without losing all my bookmarks.
Until the quality of expandrive is improved please add an export/save connections option, so I can re-import them right back into expand drive. Not only does this allow me to save a file for multiple machines, but I've had to reenter them 10+ so far, do to stuff happening when reinstall or using your auto updates.

Inappropriate?Hi ckizer,
First off, all of your drives are stored in a file in ~/Library/Application Support/ExpanDrive/<your name="true">.Expandrives . You can copy this file to a new computer (and rename it if your username changed) and that will copy all of your drives.
I’m sorry for the trouble with MacFUSE. MacFUSE installs into system directories (/Library/Filesystems/fusefs) and sometimes system updates don’t play nicely. Usually when it doesn‘t work to simply reinstall it, then it will work if you manually uninstall it and then reinstall it. MacFUSE has a Preference Pane in the System Preferences menu that will uninstall it. Or, if you like the Terminal, you can run/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/uninstall-macfuse-core.sh
There’s a chance that won’t do it either. Sometimes the MacFUSE installation gets so borked that the uninstaller doesn’t work right. In that case, and this has worked for pretty much everyone, you might need to manually obliterate a few key files. If you’ll cut and paste the code at this link into Terminal it should do it.

In the unlikely event that still doesn’t work, send us an email at support@expandrive.com and we’ll get things fixed somehow.</your> -
Inappropriate?Jon:
Still having the problem. I followed your steps exactly:
Ran/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/uninstall-macfuse-core.sh
Then Ran :sudo rm -rf /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs /System/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs /Library/Frameworks/MacFUSE.framework /Library/Receipts/MacFUSE.pkg "/Library/Receipts/MacFUSE Core.pkg"
Then Removed Expand Drive Completely with appzapper.
Movie showing me following all your steps (i need this fixed asap):

Inappropriate?I even tried installing macfuse first just now, and then installing Expandrive, no love. What msut I do, I need help!
-
Inappropriate?Jon, any update? I can't use it at all.
-
Inappropriate? The solution is very simple. Checking console.app it says "Expandrive cannot access /usr/local/lib" usr & local both are system only. I changed the permission and expand drive works fine. I changed them back to system only and it's fine as well. Seems like an expandrive bug.
