ExpanDrive 2 TextMate Slow Project Opening and Path Finder Permissions
Hey Guys,
Just installed 2.0 and working with a VMWare VM of CentOS 5.2 with TextMate 1.5.8 (1498) and Path Finder 5.1.0 (596). Installed the patch to get "do not refresh on refocus". (17 inch unibody 4GB RAM 256SSD.)
Before the install experienced strange behavior with Path Finder where it wouldn't refresh even after F5-ing; I would need to remount the drive or close the Path Finder window to get new files to show up.
Many times when I open projects/files up in TextMate I go to save, only to be presented with the Authorized File Operation (or something to that effect) and asked for my password. On entering my local OSX password, the file operation completes but no file is actually saved or created. This behavior disappeared with 2.0. Haven't seen it as much now and I can actually create files in Path Finder now. It did happen once in the last day, so I'm curious if there's an explanation for this and anything I can set up to prevent it. In the past I would fix it by chowning the remote directory to the user I'm connected to through ExpanDrive, but the files causing the dialog were already owned by that user anyway.
The one major difference between 2.0 and its predecessor is the time it takes to open a project (and change to a project in TextMate). I get the rainbow spinner of death now and have to wait for a bout a minute and a half for TextMate to open the project (~30s to switch back to TextMate at times). I did just switch from always opening the folder to saving a .tmproj file locally.
Thanks for any help!

Inappropriate?notbrain - first off, you have a sweet computer. I'm kind of jealous.
Secondly, we've got a few issues that need sorting out - it appears. With regard to your being prompted for a PW in textmate - if you could replicate that in any way, it would be super useful for us. I'm not sure what would cause it, but a replicate case would certainly allow us to understand and fix it.
wrt to the load time, how many files are in the project, roughly? how long did the load take in v1? any symlinks in the project? -
Inappropriate?Heh - thanks. It only cost an arm and a leg.
There's probably upwards of 300 files in the project, it's a Cake implementation. I'm also working on some Symfony projects and those can have quite a bit more if you count the libraries and plugins. Not that many symlinks, maybe one or two.
I'm sorry I can't give you concrete reproducible steps to make the password prompt come up, but I have the feeling that it's now only happening when I wake up from sleep and start working again, whether it be at home or at work. It could also be more apt to happen after suspending the VM and starting it back up while not shutting down TM in the meantime, maybe some sort of file links get lost or something. In that case, it may just be a pitfall of running sites on a VM like that.
