ExpanDrive looses connection when Explore is minimized.

After previously having used SftpDrive for approx 3 month with the only problem being explore chrashing now and then, I've upgraded to ExpanDrive.
Now I've the problem that when using ExpanDrive (WinXP) It connects ok, I can open Explore once and browse files through the connection, but as soon as Explore looses focus (eg: is minimized) the connection is lost: [drive]:\...\ is not accesible. invalid function.
This doesn't happen when using sftpDrive on the same computer.

Toke - I can't replicate this at all. When you close Explorer and re-open it, does it still work? What server software are you using?

    Inappropriate?
    Hello!

I have had this problem ever since I purchased and installed Expandrive onto my computer when it was released. I have been extremely frustrated that this problem hasn't been solved by Expandrive.

I finally had it one day and I decided to figure out what the problem is and I am happy to report that I have the solution to the problem.

The problem is that explorer is trying to access a "Special Folder" which is being mapped to a location on the remote drive.

In my case my "My Pictures" was being mapped to "W:\home\lmmoore\My Pictures"

For some reason, either explorer or Expandrive doesn't like it and throws an "Invalid function" error.

The solution is to make sure that all your "Special Folders" are not being mapped to a remote drive.

    Please follow these instructions:

    1. Choose Start > Run.
    2. In the Open box type Regedit and click OK.
    3. Browse to the following keys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

    4. Verify the drive, path, or variables are valid for each of the keys.
For each of these keys on the right hand side there is a Data column. Each entry that refers to a variable or a path name - each value needs to refer to a valid drive, path or variable. These path names may be unique to your individual PC - to restore the defaults it may be necessary to examine a known working machine, or contact a Microsoft Windows technician for additional help.

An additional note: Please pay attention to the "Type" column. My previous "My Pictures" type was "REG_SZ" and when I entered "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Pictures" as my new value. It wasn't finding the location.

I had to delete the "My Pictures" entry and add it again but with a "REG_EXPAND_SZ" (Expandable String Value) type.

Best of luck to you all!
