Feature Suggestion: Path list per drive, displayed as submenu
Relating to me earlier idea (in the old forum: http://forum.magnetk.com/index.php/to...) about an additional "default open" path setting for virtual drives: Today I realized that what would be way more useful is a *list* of remote paths that I could configure in the drive manager. To be really useful, these entries should be listed in a submenu of their drive name menu item in the ExpanDrive menu.
You can see an illustration here:

Selecting one of these submenu path entries would open the folder in the Finder, and if the drive isn't mounted yet it would mount the drive first.
BTW can't I post images or image URLs here?

Inappropriate? That's a cool idea, Any idea how you would go about configuring that [without seriously cluttering our connect sheet?]
Satisfaction says they are working on getting images/urls in the coming weeks -
Inappropriate?Maybe a favorites list that can be collapsed and expanded?

Inappropriate? This is a feature I really find myself wishing for all the time when I use ExpanDrive.
Do you guys think you will have time to implement this sometime? -

I think we could certainly implement it as a "hidden" feature that those who wanted to tweak saved drives by hand could utilize. We're quite wary of crowding the GUI with an excess of options... Any thoughts on a graceful interface to setup these paths?

Inappropriate?Jeff, you asked the same thing (how to add it to the GUI without clutter) 9 months ago, and 9 months ago I replied with a suggestion, see the two mockup screenshots.
In the first one you see what I would add to the gui: just a word and a disclosure triangle, very minimal. If somebody wants to use the feature, they click the triangle and see the list.
Did you never see that suggestion?
I’m wondering if I made the mockups for nothing

Apologies. Sometimes when I answer these requests from my iPhone I don't re-read the entire thread :) Yes, I see now.
With regard to the mockup: I like the idea, the problem is that there are 25 different little things people would love to tweak, cache behavior, icons, etc etc. All of a sudden "ridiculously simple" becomes "ridiculously complicated."
That's not to say there is no good way to do it, we just haven't found it yet. A disclosure or tab set is certainly a good/obvious way to do it. We're also considered a context menu action that brings up an "advanced options" sheet, which is entirely separate from the current sheet. It would be an extra step for those users who always want to tweak advanced options, but for novices it would make the program appear much simpler.

Inappropriate?I like the contextual menu idea.
I don't think there's a lot to tweak in the case of this feature suggestion as outlined in the mock ups. It is, after all, just a list of paths on the remote system. I don't think there should be per-path icons, or per-path cache behavior for these.
And if you look at the mockup, the addition is really very minimal. Just the word "Favorites" and a disclosure triangle. But as I said, I could definitely live with the contextual menu solution, so that casual users whould not even see the "Favorites" in the main sheet. I wouldn't care if the advanced settings are harder to reach.
But I would *really* like to have the ability to reach often-used folders quickly. As mentioned, this is a feature I find sorely missing almost every time I use ExpanDrive, and I use it a lot.
