remote (de)compression and remote to remote copy
When transfering files from one ssh mounted volume to another remote ssh accessed volume, wouldn't it be possible to issue an sftp command directly from one remote host to the other ? This would allow much faster file transfer between remote disks I guess...
The same idea could be applied for remote files compression / decompression, at least using the tar/gzip method.
The only OS X application I know that does this at present times is RBrowser but it would be a dream for me (and others I suppose) to be able to achieve this right from PathFinder for exemple...
Hope you'll find some interest in this idea ;-)

The company has not planned to implement this.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the suggestion! The feature you're describing is available in the FTP protocol (though most servers do not implement it for security reasons). However, SFTP does not provide anything like what you're describing.
I am guessing RBrowser probably achieves remote-to-remote copy by bypassing SFTP and issuing shell commands through an ordinary SSH channel; it's an interesting idea, but it's not something we have any plans to implement in the near future for ExpanDrive.
