System Preferences Integration
Great app but what about dropping the current app and replacing it with a System PreferencePane and a background app/daemon.
Start/stop the daemon via the prefpane, set bookmarks via the PrefPane including keyboard shortcuts for connecting to the bookmarks, enable/disable the menu icon via the prefpane, Update/Register etc.
What about trying to enable sftp:// as a handler for use via the "Connect to Server..." dialog assuming that sort of thing is possible.

The company has not planned to implement this.

Inappropriate? It’s impossible for 3rd party apps to integrate with the “Connect to Server...” dialog See: http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2004/...
I think our current Status Bar Item is an easier interface for most users than a a PrefPane would be. We try to interface out of the way, since so much of the ExpanDrive action happens behind the scenes. The Status Bar Item only takes up 16 × 16 pixels, and it lets you connect to any server with just a click and a drag. It’s a good compromise.
But we did recently have a user ask to get rid of the Status Bar Item. If we keep hearing that our users want ExpanDrive to live even further int he background then we’ll definitely think about the PrefPane.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I figured the Connect to server would be a no-goer.
As to my original request, all you're missing is the prefpane. You already have a command-line app available for the connect/eject of mounts.
