Why is 1.x no longer available for Mac? And no free upgrade?

I have a license for ExpanDrive 1.x (Mac) but only 2.0 is available for download. My current license does not work with 2.0. Apparently, I have a license for a product that is no longer available. What's up with that? I would not be upset if there was a free upgrade to 2.0.
