having control over downloading of original photos?

Photos and downloads of the originals.

There is no other option than to put users who should download your photos in either friends and/or family and control which group/s can download from the settings (arrow down next to me).

What you are asking, can be solved in PLUS accounts.
You'll have to ommitt using "friends/family" as a privacy settings for albums, then create an alternative group ie "my friends" or any other adequate custom group name.

Now, set the album access right "custom group" and add only those who should be able to download the photos to "friends".

The person's right to access an album is now set by another group asossiation than "friend/family" group, but the right to download original photos are directly controled by the asossiation to "friend/family" group.

If you don't let "friends/family" be an access group to any photo/album, those in "friends/family" will only be able to access photos/albums through other group asossiations or individual access rights.

Hi :) I have the PLUS account but I can ́t get it to give me other options than friend/family in the "who can download" dropdown menu. could this be a bug in my PLUS account?

or more correctly, I cant change my settings in that dropdown menu, it only return to me/privat after I try to change it

Nothing wrong with your PLUS account. What you are asking is currently not available.

I explained a work around.

1. Add custom group "my friends", as an alternative to "friends"
2. Use "my friends" contact group for friends
3. Use "friends" for contacts who should be able to download
4. Don't set access to photos/albums for "friends", use "my friends"
5. Now your contacts in "my friends" who are also in "friends" can download if you have set "only friends can download originals" in settings.

yes I see, thank you :)
but it is not possible to change my settings to let family/friends download my photos. If I change my settings to friends or family it changes back to me(privat) when I save my preference

Make sure you save your new settings at the bottom of the Edit settings page. I can't see any problems changing that setting in ie7, Opera 9, Opera 10 beta2, safari, or firefox.

I ́m using a Mac with firefox and safari and it don ́t look like it is working, the other settings is possible to change but not the download option

I understand, but can't reproduce on a mac mini with latest Firefox. Although that wont help you now, hopefully the tech team will have this resolved soon.
