I have shared an album (using email) with two persons in my contact list.
These persons only exist as Facebook contacts in my contact list, and I therefore selected their Facebook entries as recipients of the invitation.
Apparently everything went fine, but when I check the list of shared albums, they are not listed. Other albums I have shared (using ordinary email addresses) are listed.
Does this mean that I can't share albums with Facebook contacts using email?
I thought this was a good idea, since it would make it possible to share albums with Facebook friends without having to make the album public.

As of now it is not possible to share with Facebook contacts through email. That is because we don't have access to send emails to your facebook contacts because of policies enforced by Facebook itself.
We agree with you that we need a better way of sharing with Facebook friends and are planning to allow sharing of non-public photos to Facebook. This will be available in the coming updates. Stay tuned! -

I met this situation too now, wanted to share the photos with the people tagged in the album..
If it's not possible to share the photos with email, why list the facebook users as available recievers/users? -
