About blog post feed makes me choose an application, why?
Why do I have to choose an application to download the RSS About blog (about.extension.org) posts feed ? I would like to add the blog post from the about blog and run in through our community of practice blog, but when I click on the link it asked me to choose an application to run it with.
This has been happening frequently with other feeds I've tried to download as well. Sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't. Do I need some kind of plug in to open the page to the rss URL?

Inappropriate?Hi Karen,
Can you give me details about the browser, operating system, and versions of both that you use? -
Inappropriate?Hi Karen - you can skip the answers to the previous question.
The easy answer is that hopefully it won't happen anymore for now (you will probably have to clear your cache in your browser, which I'm guessing was a version of Firefox on any platform).
The technical answer is that newlines after a php closing tag in the wordpress theme file were causing the feed to not be valid. Some browsers (safari) ignore this, some (firefox) won't trigger firefox's own internal feed handler, causing it to prompt you to download the feed file, some (IE) complain about rendering the feed.
The fix was pretty obscure - and it's probably been that way since a function was added to the file in January.
Thanks for the report. It was very helpful to realize that was going on. (Google Reader continues to happily process the feed, regardless of the blank lines error).
All these moving parts in so many tools can be pretty involved sometimes.
I’m happy this was resolved.
