Facebook Account Disabled without sufficient Warning
On the 26th Aug 2008 I received an Email from Facebook which contained the following:
"Hi,
Our systems indicate that you've been misusing certain features on the site. This email serves as a warning. Misuse of Facebook's features or violating Facebook's terms of use may result in your account being disabled. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
If you have any questions, please contact warning@facebook.com from your login email address.
The Facebook Team"
When I attempted to Login to my Facebook Account I was confronted with a message which said
"Your account has been disabled by an administrator. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit our FAQ page here."
I then sent an email to warning@facebook.com and received an automated email saying
"Hi,
The Facebook Team has received your inquiry. We should get back to you soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to review our Terms of Use (http://www.facebook.com/terms.php) for more information.
Thanks for contacting Facebook,
The Facebook Team"
It is now the 28th Aug and I have still received no word back. After some Googling I realized what may have prompted Facebook to do this which is I had joined a Group for adding MobWars members and in that group I sent numerous Friend requests so I could add more Mob Members (Note this is the purpose of the Group) and the frequency I did this probably caused Facebook to Disable my Account. Here are Problems I have with this:
1. How can a Social Networking Site block members for adding Friends (Who all Accepted Friend Requests)?
2. Why send a Warning Message when the Account gets locked straight away (defeating the purpose of a Warning)?
3. Why doesn’t Facebook answer their emails (They are making profits from Members)?
4. Why cant Facebook list their Limits (Don’t give me a weak excuse about Spammers using this Information)?
I also note that the Facebook Slogan which is "Facebook is a social utility that connects you with the people around you." should really be "Facebook is a social utility that DISCONNECTS you with the people around you."

Inappropriate?I know where you are coming from. I had my Facebook deleted for adding too many friends (I'm guessing?), and I lost my events and messages. That is horrible, but the worse part is that people often use Facebook to contact me about my business, and without Facebook, I'm actually losing money every day.

Realy? Facebook restore all disabled accounts who are deleted for adding too many friends after 14 days? Please, tell me, if this true.... For me, it's importan, because, i losing money all days too, and i lose all my friends with i am working. Please answer!.. :(

Sorry I wasn't able to reply sooner...my friends who lost their accounts recovered theirs after 14 days...that's if it's just a suspension...however, reading the posts of people here disheartens me...some didn't get their accounts after a month and some received replies that they can't get theirs back...I just hope I could get mine soon :(((

Inappropriate?I think these kind of actions could seriously affect some people who are psychologically vulnerable based upon posts around the web I've seen. Facebook is outrageously insensitive in this.

very true! they should at least learn how to warn people!!! or if they can't, I hope their replies are as fast as closing down of accounts! they are too insensitive of the hard work one does in putting up an account...the games & applications are not that easy to ignore too...though they are just games, people have spent time & exerted significant efforts to work on these applications!

Inappropriate?They are disabling the accounts of some of their best users. I certainly hope they are reinstating them and coming up with a way to separate commercial spammers from loyal members.

NO FACEBOOK ARE REALLY NICE THEY'VE REACTIVATED MY ACCOUNT ON THE SPOT BECAUSE THEY KNEW I DIDN'T MISUSE ANYTHING BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING WEIRD IN MY PC AND THANKS TO THEM I INSTALLED AN ANTIVIRUS AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. PLEASE CONSIDER THE MATTER SETTLED. I AM VERY SATISFIED AND I ADORE FACEBOOK TEAM. THANK YOU

Inappropriate?You seem to have a different sort of case. The bigger problem is the disabling of loyal users who are charged with having too many friends, or adding them to quickly, or, well, we don't even know what because it's never stated. But they are throwing good members away and doing untold damage to their brand.

I know but without warnings, It wont help the users...the limits are very vague & I compare myself to others...I have less than a hundred friend in my 2nd account, just a week old but It still got disabled. Their right is not the question here, we are just hoping they could be more considerate in closing down accounts. Or if not, they could at least respond to queries as fast as their taking down of accounts. My friend reported bullies & it took them 6 weeks bfore they replied that they can't do anything about it...they should prioritize the problem they solve cuz with what they do, they are just creating more problems...I am playing a game & I witnessed there are many cheaters who create 5 accounts/cheater...it seems like they're closing the real accounts not the fake ones.

Jack? Do you work for facebook? How long is the waiting period? I have been going on 8 days and I know people who have gone over 3 weeks? At what point do they look at your account and say yes or no? Are all the statements you are making based on your own conclusions, guesses, and assumptions or are you making those statements based on some inside knowledge that you have? Please fill me in because I'd love to hear from someone.

my facebook acount have been disabled from 4 days now.......beacuse i did alot of add request repidly
and i have send alot of mails for facebook teams and i alawys have the massage that "We should get back to you soon"
and one massage told me "we have determined that you violated our Terms of Use by misusing our site features to harass other users. We will not be able to reactivate your account for any reason. This decision is final"
it make me so sad because i seriosly need my acount back
and i see it is unfair beacuse all people who have the same exact proplem have their acount re-enable back
and i not lose hope and mailed them alot of mails again and then i have the first massage "We should get back to you soon"
is that mean i still have a hope???.........is it fair to make final decision and with others re-enable them back ????
