Facebook account reinstated
Facebook disabled my account, it took a week of emailing different customer support reps, but I finally got an apology and my account was reinstated/reactivated. Never got a reason, but who cares, I'm back and I think FB is ok.

Inappropriate?Mark. Consider yourself lucky as you atleast your account reinstated. Myself and a lot of other people who got their accounts disabled are still on the urge of fighting with these 2 line replying facebook bots!
They accused me of spamming just because i copied and pasted the same thing 3 times. Thats just BS. Check out my BBB complaint status .

Congrats once again! -
hey tapan get in touch with appeals@facebook.com. I made it clear that what they did was wrong and they needed to check my appeal out and make proper sense of it. -
Inappropriate? How did you manage to convince them? Any advice would be appreciated.

Inappropriate?I don't see why everyone online is assumed either a perv or a spammer? Remember the mid/late 1990s, when smart people were online?! What did ya tell them to rectify things?
I’m very upset
-
Inappropriate? They said I was not eligible? What does that mean? I am an adult, and more of a social person than all the fags that think sex is everything..
I’m mad

Inappropriate?Mark
if you have an email other than the standard appeals email place, i'd appreciate it

Hey SB, I've resorted to finding outside parties that require companies such as Facebook to provide better information to users, guidlines and procedures..
Attorney General NY (this guy forced them to hire and Independant Safety and Security advisor), Attorney General CA (their head office is in Palo Alto) and my latest.. Better Business Bureau. (Facebook has 30 something complaints against them .... (not sure if they are gonna do anything either.. )
Facebook is kinda becoming a little mafia -ish.. -
Inappropriate?Hi. first of all thank you to anyone who has responded to my post. After 2 weeks of being exiled from facebook I had my account reactivated. They said something like "We have decided to reactivate your account after careful deliberation and apoligize for any inconvenience". I found the appeals section to be the best to contact, and you kind of wonder about facebook's professionalism in handling reports as they don't formally check reports out fully.
Be persistent and stick up for yourself, without losing your cool.
I’m bemused
-
Inappropriate?Hey! I had a similar experience. Disabled Sunday and reinstated Wed...
sheesh.. I've contacted the Attorney General CA division for advice about required services for such a company... customer service. Clear guidlines for users. and a strict procedure for customer complaints..
I guess I'm just hoping to force them to provide user services and procedures that won't allow them to use to their advantage for each case. Not only did they tell me they warned me on several occasions.. but basically told me I was a persistant misuser.. but they can't tell me exactly what defines persistant.. and what is misuse...
a shot in the dark, but I'll keep ya posted if I hear anything
I’m concerned
-
Inappropriate? My account is the least of my worries now, now I've *hit the big time*, Facebook's lawyers have sent me a "cease and desist" letter (regarding some domain names I own):

I’m indifferent
-
Inappropriate?yikes.. be careful of what you post here...
-
Inappropriate? So here's the latest.. not inspiring but if enough people do this then the Attorney General is required to investigate.

Thank you for bringing your consumer information to the attention
of Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. Often it is only through
letters from concerned and responsible citizens that our office becomes
aware of consumer problems.
Complaints are used to develop information about patterns of
business activity which might indicate the need for formal investigation or
law enforcement action by our office. Complaints often bring early
warning of what promises to be a pervasive scam. Once a pattern is
discovered, what originated as a private dispute between buyer and seller may
become a matter of broad public interest and thus warrant the Attorney
General's intervention under the state's consumer protection laws.
The Attorney General's staff also invites complaints of consumer
abuse, deceptive business practices and outright fraud in order to
pinpoint specific data for the purpose of sponsoring new laws or requesting
changes in the current law for the benefit and protection of the
general public.
You should be aware that California law does not allow us to
represent private individuals in personal civil matters. In cases of
statewide significance, we can bring legal action on behalf of the collective
legal interests of the people of this state when substantive evidence
is accumulated which indicates that a firm is systematically violating
California law.
Please be assured that your information will be retained in our
consumer files and is of importance in helping this office to organize
its priorities.
Sincerely,
S. Regalado

Inappropriate?Mark,
My Facebook account was disabled suddenly and completely without warning last Monday May 19th, after 2-plus years of use and carefully following its rules. I haved never, ever violated any Facebook rule, and yet I got an email out of the blue saying that I had spammed people. I had absolutely done no such thing.
Would you mind sending me an email, advising me about what you specifically did, or who you wrote, to get your account reinstated? If I did not feel so innocent here, I would not be resorting to this. I am just completely stunned that my account's been deleted for no reason.
My email is papical2004@yahoo.com
I would really appreciate your advice. If you have the email address of the Facebook rep who reinstated your account, that would also really be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Christian

Inappropriate?Hey Christian.. you're not alone.. read all the topics tagged under "account disabled"
There is no one here participating from facebook, so you're unfortunately going to have to send emails to every possible address you can find for facebook:
disabled@facebook.com
warning@facebook.com
info@facebook.com
appeals@facebook.com
and reply to the address you got the notice from should be.. something like info+******@facebook.com
all you can do is explain what you were doing.. but if you look to Thors posted message.. 13 ways you can get disabled from facebook.. you'll figure it out.
Good luck.. I've been sending letters to other governing bodies like the Attorney General CA, and if they receive enough complaints they will have to investigate and hopefully force them to produce a more specific Terms and Conditions, Code of Conduct.. and more importantly some sort of Customer service contact.. and.. guidlines that they have to follow for disabling an account.
I got accused of repeatedly being warned for my persistant misuse but was only warned.. then disabled 2 seconds later... I asked for proof. They could provide none. But.. I did get reactivated.. and sighed a big sigh of relief -
Can you give me an email address to the attorney general as well as a general guide line for what I should say? -

Inappropriate?my account was disabled as well and i was very frustrated. after about 3 days i got this email and was reinstated, i emailed them many time, try to stay patient
this is the email i got:
In an effort to control a spam and phishing attack, Facebook's systems have accidentally disabled your account. A small subset of Facebook users had their accounts taken over when they provided login information on a malicious website or downloaded a virus to their computer. These people's accounts were used to spam friends with weird messages and Wall posts. When Facebook's systems detected this, the accounts were quickly shut down.
Unfortunately, we disabled some accounts that weren't actually compromised, including yours. We're working to refine our detection systems so this doesn't happen again. In the meantime, your account has been reactivated, and you can log in with your normal email and password.
To learn more about Facebook security, check out our Page here: www.facebook.com/security <http://www.facebook.com/security> . It includes tips for how to be safe online as well as links to free anti-virus software.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. -

Inappropriate? My account was disabled today and I am still unable to get it reinstated.

Inappropriate?I sent emails to all of those facebook recipients, saying (copy+paste) what Thor said about the 5 ways to do that thing.
""Here are some ideas that come to mind that would help breed mutual trust and shared responsibility inside Facebook:
1. The most novel idea: Friends of each disabled user would be able to see the the disciplinary action in their activity feed ("Thor's account was disabled for suspected spamming") and then they'd be able to vote "Agree" or "Disagree". This would turn this into much more of a community policing approach and would undoubtedly work much better.
Here's the more procedural suggestions:
2. Clear guidelines (not necessarily specific triggers) and up-front warnings about the sudden death policy
3. A reliable and well-defined path to reinstatement; this means published timeframes and transparency in the review process (i.e. it shouldn't be "guilty until proven innocent")
4. A public discussion space with Facebook participation for users to explain themselves, and for Facebook to respond openly; people should be able to rally friend networks in their defense.
5. Reputation should be worth *at least* as much as arbitrary behavior triggers in deciding which accounts get shuttered. "" --Thor
