I can not validate my email address!!

Facebook has asked me to confirm my email address. It keeps telling me my email address is invalid even though it is through Hotmail. I have never changed it or updated it through Facebook. I am still receiving email notifications through my email. Obviously, they have my address or else I wouldn't be getting email alerts. What is the problem????
