I can't get access to the facebook site

I have a problem accessing my account in facebook....everytime I go to that page it's only reloading but it doesn't allow me to do things in facebook..but when I put "s" in http// the page is working fine... why is that so? HEEEEELPPP

Start->Run->type cmd

Then in the command prompt, type:

ipconfig /flushdns

Solves this issue about 80% of the time.

I have the same problem - I have been unable to get Facebook for a month. However, when at a hotel in Toulouse this week, I went online and accessed it easily in my own account. Why will my computer at home get every other website except Facebook? It's a mystery. If anyone can tell my how to cure it, I'll be grateful. It shows I've not been 'banned' by Facebook, which I thought originally - and my cousins and friends still can send me messages - I can't access 'anything Facebook'. I'm confused and yes, still irritated.

I've had the same problem - it's to do with domain name servers - otherwise known as 'DNS'. Normally these are sorted out by your Internet Service Provider - ring them and tell them there's a problem. However if you're techie enough it's easy to solve without bothering them - Use a free service such as OpenDNS (www.opendns.com) - it's a matter of going to your router (or modem) 's set up page, and typing in two rows of numbers. You don't need to understand it to sort it - but you do need to follow the instructions carefully if you're not sure what you're doing.Full instructions on OpenDNS's site - Click on 'Get Started'

The problem may lie with your ISP or with your router, and the way it's handling the DNS numbers which are (usually) automatically provided by the ISP - either way they should be able to provide advice.

A domain name server by the way is a device which translates all the web addresses we use - for example www.facebook.com - into the numbers which computer networks understand, so we surf to the same place each time.

Hi, I have the same problem, the website gets stuck before even loading anything and waits endlessly for "static.ak.facebook"... tried Firefox IE and tried changing firewall settings, cookies and cache, but it just happened overnight, not after I changed any settings. it seems that the problem is not from the browsers but from above, somewhere...

tip: To be able to access my account anyway (its limited but enough!) try http://m.facebook.com/ which is teh mobile gateway.

i tooo hav the same problem when i type www.facebook.com the page shows "THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED" CHECK NETWORK SETTINGS but i checked more than 20 times nut the same pro blem plzzzzzzzz help me yaaar

I don't even get to first base. Both Internet explorer 7 and firefox 2.0 timeout. I have triple checked security settings, checked the various files in spybot and adaware to see if the facebook site is mentioned. I have not checked the firewall (standard windows one). My kids come home & want to log onto thier pages and get most frustrated. I tried one of those anonymiser sites and got thru but they are painful with all the ads etc. Help!

I have the same problem. I can log into facebook for around 5 minutes, then when I click on some pages, I get the message "can't find the server at www.facebook.com." I need to refresh the page about 10 times and eventually the page appears. It must be something on my laptop as I've tried from my desktop on the same network and I don't have the issue. I've checked all my firewalls and browser settings (happens with both IE and Firefox) but I still keep getting the problem. It's really annoying, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd really like to hear them! :)

I Have the Exact same problem,whearas I can access ANY other website exept for facebook!!....I've also tried it via Firefox and Opera as well as IE 7!!? I've also ,very quickly disable my Firewall to see whether it was that but still no joy!!! I don't know what else to try!

It sounds like your browser is actually crashing when you try to access Facebook. If you're using IE6, I'd recommend upgrading to IE7, or downloading Firefox. To update your browser to IE7, please click on the link below:

I can't access it either. I can access any other website except Facebook, and when I attempt it, I get a message telling me that Internet Explorer has to be shut down.

If you're trying to access facebook.com from a public location (ie School, the Library, work, etc), you might be behind a firewall preventing you from accessing the site. You may want to see if you can access Facebook from another location, like a friends house or a coffee shop with free wifi.

So it's not even about not being able to log in? You just can't access http://www.facebook.com?
