Quit disabling accounts for applications Facebook approved
Guys, you disabled my account because I play mafia wars? Everyone has a good time and we all hook up through mafia war invite groups voluntarily. No spamming or solicitation involved. Please reinstate my account as I’ve done nothing wrong and no one complained.
At some point in the future you people need to readdress this automatic system you’ve developed. Save disabling accounts for people that receive actual complaints. No one accepts friends unless they want to and most would report solicitations. Let us play the games you folks approved for Facebook in peace.
Thank You.---- mattgrotenhuis@charter.net

Inappropriate?Yep, same thing happened to me. My account was disabled because I was sending the same message too many times. The message? Join my mafia, sent to people that I am friends with. Also fun: no response back from FB about reinstating my account...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yep, me too... but they responded.... the opposite of what they say on "Facebook" read the response.... also they say watch out....
(read the email response)
"Facebook accounts are meant for personal, authentic usage only and should reflect mainly your 'real-world contacts.' As such, fake accounts are a violation of our Terms of Use. This includes accounts that exist solely for the usage of third-party gaming applications.
While we realize that certain third-party applications might encourage users to create multiple accounts, send out form messages, or make posts on other users' Walls, we cannot make exceptions to the policies we have in place.
Please be aware that we take the appropriate action on any violations we encounter. If there are any accounts like this on the site currently, it is only because they have not yet been removed.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to reactivate this account for any reason. This decision is final."
Thanks for contacting Facebook,

Inappropriate?I lost my mafia wars account too (level 235).
I will take all the names you guys have of those at Facebook!
-
Inappropriate?I agree what do you have in mind? Also there is a group that helps people that lost their Facebook acct because of playing Mafia wars, it is: 'unlockingcommunications@gmail.com'....
I’m happy

Inappropriate? Thanks for the e-mail...it will save me a letter to the CEO of Zynga.
What is your e-mail? I am going to be starting a web site of my own against Facebook. I am in the process of gathering Facebook employee names. -
Inappropriate?My email is jozac1@gmail.com.......

Inappropriate?Hello, I wanted to update everyone on my situation. Like you, I recieved the dreaded "Unfortunately, we will not be able to reactivate this account for any reason. This decision is final." letter. However, my account has since been reinsted.
Of course it took 4+ weeks of hearing nothing before they rendered their arbitrary decision. In that time I recieved dozens of emails and calls from friends (and relatives) thinking I had deleted them.
Once I recieved the letter I did two things.
1) Replied very politely asking them to reconsider and pointed out that while my mafia size was 1700+ my FB friends list was only 300 so I did not in fact violate their precious "mainly real-world contacts policy."
2) I sent a letter directly to their legal department. That letter was not so nice. I asked them to review my closed account and pay special attention to the fact I do have a law degree.....and I was p*ssed. I pointed out that while I agree their site is free and they can delete people as they choose.....they recieve money from Zynga, I am a client of Zynga and thus my legal rights are superior. Particularly as they have no warning or disclaimer when one joins an invite group or Mafia Wars. Yes, I did tell them I was prepared to sue and it would cost me nothing but the $30 filing fee and they would spend thousands.....regarless of the outcome...... I hate being a pr*ck, but again, I was p*ssed.
Anyhow, one of the two actions above worked. Their "final decision" was reversed less than 48 hours later. I absolutely would have sued, but glad it didn't come to that. Frankly I don't have the time. However, they simply have to do something about this hair-trigger system they've come up with for disabling accounts. Particularly when they simply don't have the customer service capabilities to correct mistakes.
Finally, I was a huge fan of FB prior to my experience. Now, no way. It's great for contacting old friends and relatives, but once you know how quickly they can shut your account down and leave all your friends thinking you deleted them........ FB really loses its luster. I no longer ask clients to be friends. I simply can't risk upsetting them.
I’m upset they made me hate them.

Stan Munsey's letter to Facebook owner and founder, Mark Zuckerberg
Hi Mark, My name is Stan Munsey. My account was permanently deleted for supposedly "harassing" other people. I was sent the usual ,"you have misused the TOS" automated response. I say your TOS can be determined to be null and void, if it can be shown that it has no actual limits listed of what constitutes "harassing". How many posts are too much? How many friends are too much? How many responses to other friends are too much and in what given time? None of that is ever detailed or stated in your so-called TOS. If no limits are given specifically, how then, can one exceed them? You say warnings are given. They are never given with a true explanation.. they are always
ramdom, arbitrary and vague in their nature. Many times there are no warnings before a user has his/her account disabled.
I know there should be a system in place that removes people who have engaged in offensive, malicious behavior that includes, true harassment, spamming, hate speech and obscene material but the systematic removal of people who are just using this site for "social-networking", in a polite and professional way between friends and family, is absurd and needs to be addressed.
I used my site to network with other music industry contacts and to engage in conversation with friends and family. I have from time to time posted political views but always in a civil and polite tone. I do not spam or participate in any obvious TOS violation..yet my account was "permanently" disabled. That must mean I am guilty of a really serious "crime". It is disappointing to have 2500+ "friends", tons of photos, blogs and other content, simply go away and get no real explanation as to why..other than your vague, mysterious Terms of service violation..when I know I have not misused this service in any way or fashion.
If this site cannot handle high traffic, then why don't you have a system in place that can? If you know how many posts are too much, and know what number of friend adds constitute too much, why don't you state that.. so your users can know ? Or does FB even know the answers to that? Or maybe you really don't want people "socializing" too much..could it possibly be taking their eyes off of the advertisers content..hmm ..could it be ..it's really not a social-networking site after all_so..FB, what about the good folks who have spent money..lots of it on FB through advertising and still got booted because of your in-ept, anti-spam..out-of-control automated system..and just who sits anonymously behind the scenes telling us with absolute resolve..your account has been disabled and will for no reason be reinstated..our decision is final!! ...one of your high-school buddies, Mark ? ..having fun playng social-network Czar? lol
Mark, I know you've made a lot of money from this vision of yours ..and have millions of users around the world... but apparently they come and go...and i guess FB determines that...but have you ever once thought..how the systematic removal of thousands of users have affected others. I have read many accounts of soldiers who were using Facbook to connect with family back home.. having their accounts disabled suddenly and with no recourse to have it reinstated...and they fight for your freedom to make millions.. I have read other stories of lonely widows using FB to reach out to friends and family across the country..who suddenly wake up one day and find that connection is gone...others who were in the middle of business deals and lost their contacts and details because of a system that doesn't care to investigate the circumstances or listen to the complaint of the user.
Mark, if you aren't willing, as the founder of Facebook, to stand up and realize your automated system needs to be revamped, your terms of service..written in a fair and understandable way and that you are not putting the needs and wants of your users first, then you sir, are a coward and obviously very immature. This isn't really about me being reinstated back to Facebook..it is me ..disturbed that this site is misusing it's power to intimidate and manipulate others with vague, stealth-like practices under the guise of a "social-network"..I guess it is reminding me of other abuses going on in the country of ours.
I reach a lot of people as an entertainer and run into a lot of FB users.. I plan on crusading this issue of unfair practices by Facebook...just because I can and maybe because of the sheer arrogance that lies beneath the surface of Facebook. I have a life outside of FB and so do others but that does not negate the fact or absolve Facebook in any way.. from being guilty of not having the courage to stand accountable to it's users! There are a lot of folks that are on board with this sentiment. Facebook is starting to unravel.. and there are several class action suits pending and I plan on pursuing many media contacts with copies of thousands of stories from other users who, for no obvious reason, had their accounts disabled.
Will you rise up Facebook? Face your accusers.? or will you continue to hide behind your software and non-sensical Terms of Service..
Remember, all great empires fall.. sooner or later..except, maybe this one is not so great..after all_
There are other sites out there..begging us to try them out..promising they will let us "socialize".. without the nanny-mentality and engage in healthy debate and freedom of expression_ and maybe we should...
Stan Munsey -
I would also like to have the legal dept address for facebook and any contact names you might have access to. Thanks, Stan Munsey -
Inappropriate?thanks for the information.... where did get the address for the legal dept?
-
Inappropriate? What a wonderful idea...although, I am not sure I want my account back...I think I want to destroy Facebook every which way I can. Do you want to see how far I can go with my endeavors. I am in the process of collecting employee names, disabled accounts, pictures...the whole nine yards. Foolish Facebook, thinks they can do whatever they want to our accounts and no one is going to do something about it. I for one, am not going to sit back idle and let them walk all over me. The revolution against Facebook has begun and I am coming with a vengeance!
Oh, by the way jozac1...I have Facebook's lawyer's name, address, phone number, e-mail, the whole sushbang...e-mail me and I will give it to you.
-
You are absolutely right... I am doing the same thing.. -

I’m Annoyed
-
Inappropriate?I received warnings....but it didn't say what I was doing wrong. FB is a social network.....but if you are too social, there's a problem? Absolutely outrageous!
I’m disgusted
-
Inappropriate?Hi Matt, if you could be so kind as to forward this info my way I'd appriciate it. I now have also had my account deleted with the same automated response crap now 5 responses in. My email is gothiqueautumn@gmail.com
I’m ANGRY
-
Inappropriate?ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! Mafia Wars spams our friends and family's walls with giant banners advertising their products and our accounts get deleted. I have NEVER wanted to publish that crap. Not everyone I know plays it and the ones that don't, HATE it. I HATE it! It constantly posts updates, "brags" about game details that I know I hit skip on. It vomits up free advertising and it's disgusting! The solution is to make separate accounts so friends don't have to put up with it, but then they disable them, and blame it on us for violating their use of service. Fake accounts and spamming are direct responses to their own policies.
I’m PISSED!!!!
