Why can't I delete my old Facebook comments?

I deactivated/reacivated my Facebook account & can no longer delete comments (there is no "x" option") I made prior to my deactivation. How can I delete the comments? They are linked to the same account! It boggles me. I haven't heard back from Facebook &it has been over a month.
