All Unread - Customising
If we want to view all unread posts, we click 'what's new'. But I don't really like how you can't change how it displays, and that there's a huge News display on there that you can't get rid of (this also appears in the News tab). Perhaps something similar to what's in Google Reader? More compact please!

Inappropriate?Kansar. I am attaching a screenshot of the new design we will be pushing out in a couple of days. The goal of the change is more relevant ranking, simpler UI, more density and more consistency. The what's new page and all the category pages, will use the same template.
Is that a step in the right direction from your perspective?

While you may have removed some of the big spaces between the entries, I still find that it's a bit too expanded. I'm really not a big fan of the magazine view, and would prefer if the 'What's New' page had the same options to change the view that all the other tabs do. -
Kanzar. Have you looked at the river? Based on what you are describing it seems like a better fit for your use case.

Oh that. Nah, I don't like 'River' or 'Magazine'. Both result in huge gaping spaces - expensive screen real estate wasted, imho.

For 'What's New' tab - the only options are cover and river.
It would be good if the options available for the other tabs (groups that you have set yourself) become available for the 'What's New' tab. -
The reason I am confused is that the river has all the views you are talking about and river, cover and what's new are just different visual representations of the "all" category. Instead of having in the drop down, we have them as icon because the people like to be able to switch between them very fast. So you should be able to configure the river and get the view/layout you get with every other category. No? (Sorry for not understand what you mean)
