how do I get rid of the feedly footer that's showing up on web pages - without having to click hide on every page?

Inappropriate?Sorry for the frustration: Go to preferences http://www.feedly.com/feedly#preferences and set the preference "Mini Toolbar" to off. Note: we are looking at offering a way to turn it of that is more explicit.

thanks! i didn't even realize that prefs page exists. my suggestion would be to have that link on the dashboard (or more prominent if I'm missing it)? Also useful to enable prefs in the firefox add-ons list and edit from there. -
Inappropriate?e: The preferences page is accessible from the top menu bar of any feedly page (the little upside down triangle thingy).
Edwin,
I think that complaints about the mini toolbar are driven to a large extent by the way it invades the browser page reading area. E.g. when I was typing this reply and I got to the bottom of the page, the mini bar was covering the text I was typing. Not a way to make friends. It needs to be less intrusive for the ordinary user. Some suggestions:
1. Move all the information and functionality into the status bar (either displayed directly or accessible through a pop-up.
2. Change the shape/position of the minibar so it is to the side (horizontal and on the bottom is still ok, but at the side it is less likely to cover information I want to see.
3. Have it appear only when I hover over the bottom part of the screen
4. Accelerator keys to send it away and bring it back -
this may be a usability prob, then - that triangle looks more like a drop down menu (it's identical to the drop down icon in the firefox url bar, e.g.) - i thought it listed the topic tabs that don't show up in the header list -
It is a drop down menu. Configuration is one of the menu items.
You may have a point that configuration deserves its own direct limk (e.g., icon). I think Edwin's goal was to eventually eliminate the preferences page entirely, but that still seems a ways off. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the feedback Phil. The last 2 weeks have been really intense (a lot of moving parts and a lot of growth) so we have not had the time to step back and digest things all the feedback re: the mini. Your suggestions are good ones. we are doing to look into how we could improve the design and continue to make it less intrusive. Many thanks. -Edwin

Inappropriate?Update: This discussion inspired me to do one more iterations. it does not address all the issue raised but it reduces the default size of feedly mini to something like this.

The bar has a kid of elastic behavior where it expands when the note input gets the focus.
I think that #4 - key accelators are important and we will implemented them next.
These changes are in 1.2.154. Please let me know if you have the chance to try it out.
Thanks.

Inappropriate? It's better, and probably fine for most people at least as a temporary solution. If you are thinking of making this style permanent (rather than something in the status bar, for example), I'd recommend making it still smaller by:
1. Replace the note text with an icon that opens/expands the text box,
2. Replace the "next" with a right arrow icon,
3. Make it more square by stacking icons, if possible,
4. When expanded, add a button to shrink the mini-bar back to its starting size,
5. Move it further (all the way?) to right.
Also, make it more useful to those who are still mainly readers, e.g.,
provide access the explore function through the mini-bar. -
Inappropriate?Update: just pushed out 1.2.158. Continue to polish the concept but trying to reduce to the minimum the size and adding support for twitter. We are getting close to what we will call iteration 3 of the concept.
The major outstanding issues are:
1) allow the user to better control where feedly mini should appear
2) make it easy to toggle the bar on and off.
We will look into that as part of an iteration 4 (in end of February/beginning of March).
Hope you are having a great week end! -
Inappropriate?Update: better twitter update is out:
