Feedly breaks GMarks bookmarks tree
Add-on GMarks bookmarks tree (menu) does not work when Feedly is enabled although the GMarks sidebar continues to work and the bookmarks are available online. Using Mac OS 10.5.6 and FF 3.0.6.

Update: We looked into this issue today. I think that there might have been some conflict between internal function names used by gmarks and feedly. We have changed all function names used by feedly to have the devhd.XXX prefix. As a result I am able to run feedly 2.x.019 and GMarks (see screenshot)

Can you please re-install the latest version of feedly from http://www.feedly.com (big green install button)?
Sorry it took so long to fix this problem

Inappropriate?Sorry about that. Do you know where we can get that extension to that we can try to replicate and hopefully fix this issue? Thank you for the heads up.

Inappropriate? Thanks. Are you sure that it is a feedly related issue? I disable feedly and when trying to add a bookmark I get:

It is late in my side of the world...Will try to look into that in more detail but it would be great if you could provide a little more information about the problem you are seeing and error you are seeing in the error console so that we can make sure that it is a feedly related problem.
Thank you! -
Inappropriate?I'm guessing it has something to do with how Feedly interfaces with the Google tools (Reader, Mail, Bookmarks, etc.). I noticed in other threads that there are cases where Feedly seems to preempt normal login to these services (causing people to have to login each time they restart their browser/visit the Google site).
The behaviour, as I experience it:
I can go to the GMarks menu item, with Feedly disabled, and browse through my bookmarks tree. All bookmarks appear in their hierarchical structure.
The bookmarks tree disappears completely from the GMarks menu when Feedly is enabled.
Possibly related:
I'm forced to login to each Google service (Mail, Reader, Bookmarks) each time I restart my browser whenever Feedly is enabled.
My login is persistent between browser restarts when Feedly is disabled.
I can't guarantee that it's definitely a Feedly problem but the symptoms disappear when the add-on is disabled. I don't know why you get the errors you listed from the error console; I just checked my console and, although I have a few errors, none of them seem to be related to GMarks.
One thing I can check is the contents of the error console when both Feedly and GMarks are enabled (Feedly is currently disabled) but it's 3AM here and I have to get up for work in a few hours. I'll try it tomorrow (or, more correctly, later today), if I get a chance, and get back to you with the results
Just thinking out loud: does Google restrict the number of location/apps you can authenticate from at the same time? That is, can you only authenticate from one app to one service at a time?
Regards.
PS. I really like Feedly. It makes RSS fun! If this was just a typical add-on I wouldn't have filed a bug report -- I'd simply have uninstalled it and moved on. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the detailed update. Feedly is actually not involved with authentication: we let the browser/user to the authentication. Re: Google that authentication is then leveraged when reading Google Reader and if the user wants to share an article by email.
Given that the behavior you are seeing changes when feedly is disabled, feedly must is somehow involved. I will try to create a brand new ff profile tomorrow and try to see if I can get gmarks up and running and reproduce the problem you are seeing. Will update this thread when I have more information.
Thanks!!!

Inappropriate?Sorry for the delay regarding this. Can you please confirm that you are able to reproduce this with the 2.0a version of feedly (the one that you can download on http://www.feedly.com We changed a couple of things in how feedly integrates with Google Reader and I am wondering if that fixed the problem or if it is something else and I am simply no able to reproduce it).

Inappropriate?Hi,
I'm having the same problems since the early feedly versions. Installed feeldy 2.0a today and issue is the same. As much as I like feedly, not being able to access my bookmarks is a showstopper.
Should feeldy offer such a great way of managing my google bookmarks, then I would be willing to switch from GMarks to feedly.

Hello. Sorry. No progress: We spent some time on it on Friday but were not able to reproduce the problem. Any chance you could create a screencast of the problem you are seeing? -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem and have include screen shots with feedly both enabled and disabled.
Feedly Enabled

Feedly Disabled

This screenshot helps. Will try to see if we can reproduce it. -
Inappropriate?Same issue. Frustrating because gmarks is far and away the best extension for google bookmarks
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Well, no idea why but it's suddenly working now. Feedly gives me a logged out message everytime I boot ff, but that's quick to fix and gmarks works now.
-
Inappropriate?I installed Gmarks today but got pulled into a different fire fight. We will take a look at this on Tuesday and keep you posted.
