Feedly in a download loop?
Why does Firefox download a feedly zip file every time I restart it? It happens on 3 different computers.

I do not think that it is a loop. It might be related to the fact that we have been polishing and fixing and a log bugs and what you are seeing are simply feedly downloading patches. If this is not the case, please keep us posted and we will dig into it more.

Inappropriate?grundum: to make sure that it is indeed and issue and not simply feedly patching itself, could you please do the follow: restart firefox, and right after the restart, go to firefox > tools > error console and email me a screenshot of the content of the messages section of the console. My email address is edwink@devhd.com
Thank you, -
Inappropriate? Here is how my downloads looks:

If I look in the error console it seemes to be some kind of upgrade problem where the old version cannot be deleted.
[feedly][boot]remote version info is:1.0b1.20. Local version is:1.0b1.12
[feedly][boot][upgrade]starting upgrade to version: 1.0b1.20
[feedly][boot][upgrade]download application image from: http://feeddo.fileburst.com/release/f...
[feedly][boot][upgrade] download of application image for feedly version 1.0b1.20 completed successfully.
[feedly][boot][upgrade] failed to continue the installation because:NS_ERROR_FAILURE -- Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsILocalFile.remove]. Defaulting to existing version
[feedly][boot][upgrade]aborted upgrade to version 1.0b1.20. Falling back to existing version.

Inappropriate?olouis: can you please manually upgrade to 1.0b3. Just point your browser to http://update.feeddo.com/release/feed... and you should be prompted to re-install feedly and restart the browser. I do not expect that you run into the same problem with 1.0b3 but if you do, please let us know and we will drill down into it.
-
Actually I was trying this now, but the install fails and there is no feedly when the browser is restarted. I see no error messages. -
Inappropriate? What do you mean by the install fails? Can you try to access chrome://feedly/content/app/feedly.htm ?
-
No i cannot access chrome://feedly/content/app/feedly.htm -
Now it installed, it was the del.icio.us plugin that had a problem and hanged all other installations -
Inappropriate?I installed from http://update.feeddo.com/release/feed...
And I get the following upgrade error:
[feedly][boot]remote version info is:1.0b1.20. Local version is:1.0b1.12
[feedly][boot][upgrade]starting upgrade to version: 1.0b1.20

Inappropriate?Orjan,
The logs still show 1.0b1. http://update.feeddo.com/release/feed... is 1.0b3 so for some reason the install is not working. Can you please try this:
1) Un-install any older version of feeddo
2) Un-install any older version of feedly
3) Restart the browser
4) Point your browser to http://update.feeddo.com/release/feed...
(I added a dummy parameter to make sure that feedly was not cached somewhere in your proxy farm)
5) After the restart, if there is no feedly button on the toolbar, add it manually by going to View > Customize Toolbar
Sorry for the trouble, I will add an item somewhere for use to try to make sure that feedly.xpi does not get cached in proxies.
Thank you and please let me know if it does not work as advertised.

Edwin, I cannot get it to work. It is probably something to do with that I am using a windows roaming profile on my laptop and that the firefox profile is stored there. I tried to delete the files manually but it is not possible. Do you know if it is possible to change where the firefox profile is stored? -
Inappropriate?no sure about where firefox profile root location is defined. Did you try to create a new profile?
-
Edwin, Now I have created a new profile on my c: drive and now feedly 1.0b4 installed ok.
